Feedback regarding recent update – adding vehicles to lineups

They should’ve giving you Parts, FPE and the 2nd best Ammo. Crew Level I can understand, not giving other mods is annoying but fine.

Even with that, people would be at a pretty big disadvantage when spawning that free vehicle. Getting a new game can be done in three clicks anyways, so I doubt many will bother with our new crippled additions.

So games top of the head with abandon penalties :

League
DOTA
Smite
Overwatch 1 and 2
Valorant
paladins
Apex Legends
CS GO and 2
R6 Siege and X
Tarkov Arena
Insuregncy Sandstorm
XDefiant
TF2
Quake Champs
PUBG
Fortnite
Warzone
Rocket League
FIFA Online
F1
SF6
Tekken 8
MK 1
WoW BG
ESO Online BG
Lost Ark PvP
SC 2
AoE IV
Destiny 2 Crucible
Halo Infinite

Tried to keep them somewhat by genre. Pretty sure even WoT is more strict than WT. XP loss, 0 gain on repeated offense. It can even lead to a game ban.

If the game was balanced than you have great points but its not.

I didnt even make it past rank 2 ground, its that bad…

Just a reminder that the Ajax was slotted in at the same br as the BMPT. Incredible decision making from gaijin

Some of you are really missing the plot here. This is a great addition and I’ve already seen it increasing match times.

My first hand experience with friends, new to WT and one life premium players, were able to stay in MANY matches until the bitter end. Even if they were fighting with sub par vehicles.

If they can do it with just a few hours in War Thunder you guys can manages with hundreds or thousands of hours.

I’m down with critiques on dev decisions. But the reality is some of yall are just complaining to complain.

Doesn’t matter, Gaijin now can claim to have listened and fixed the problem and it is the playerbase fault that they don’t appreciate how graciously Gaijin gave out top tier vehicles (to people who already spent 70 bucks buying a top tier vehicle).

Let’s be real. The free vehicles are an awesome addition to the game and we all should whole heartedly welcome it, but it could’ve been implemented better.

Plus, can’t forget to mention that with maps being sardine cans, in the time it takes for you to spawn once and die (provided you’re not a cap-rush lemming), the map can be overrun to the point of “why even bother spawning again?”

This is probably the biggest reason I choose to ODL sometimes, and if that’s already apparent even in lower ranks where engagement ranges are much shorter, then yeah high tiers don’t interest me that much.

If the opposing team has locked down key routes around the map, and the map is a campy, claustrophobic mess, I often choose to leave, and that’s even in lower ranks as I rarely play in MBT tier outside trolling them with the Pakwagen and Sturmpanzer.

This I agree on - but the solution is anything but “simple.”

Frankly, the most ham-fisted “solution” very well could be opening a Combined Arms RB EC mode on weekends. Use Naval RB EC as a base, add in the aerial capture and ground battle logic from Air EC, and enable players to spawn their tanks at said ground battles, as long as there are vehicles to kill.

Multiple spawn options are only part of the necessary solution. We also need diverse gameplay so that if one part of a map is locked down nigh-hopelessly, then people can spawn somewhere else.

Actually, let’s go even further, and port over Navy’s idea of default planes too. And then expand the default unit concept to all BRs.

It won’t solve ODL necessarily, but you know what it can and will solve?

The crap keeping the CAS debate going. If every player now has counters in their lineup, then it is up to them whether they try to use them or not. If they choose not to, and proceed to complain, now they no longer get looked at as “helpless victims” needing handholding with more CAS weapon nerfs.

I would intentionally (re)buff all SPAAGs across the board in both anti-air and anti-tank abilities to drive this home, too. Things such as:

  • Short-range lead indicators for SPAAGs without radar (1.5km max)
  • Addition of missing APCR & APDS belts for all SPAAGs beyond the lowest ranks
  • Global rebuff of APCR pen, APCR postpen, and APDS postpen
  • Removal of idiotic shell shattering on subcaliber rounds
  • Removal of forced mixed belts still lingering on some SPAAG years after they were nerfed (Kugel)
  • Lifting of doctrinal APDS & APFSDS shell count limits for all SPAAGs, given we have swarms of IFVs with no such limits that in many cases also get shells and/or tracking needed to hunt planes like an AA.

That is how you solve any problem rooted in general playerbase opinion - you force-feed them all the counters they could ever need, enhance them to where they are easy to use and work well, and then leave it up to each individual player.

I had a 10.3 line up and got a free abrams which is 10.7.

Also doing stock probably wont encourage people to stay since leaving doesnt lock those crews.

Not that you’re in anyway in charge of any of that, just saying what immediately came to mind.

I rarely, if ever one death leave. But it feels like a punishment sometimes when I am three spawns in and the 2nd or 3rd death was spawn camping and I have no options left. Like, okay thanks I got a kill or a cap and I have to spawn and die two more times before the game thinks I have suffered enough to leave without locking half or more of my line up.

Sure, I also think they shoukd get parts, FPE, and tracks and maybe more than stock heat shells so it feels like you at least have a decent option. Getting a stock mbt spawn against era clad enemies is… annoying.

Then the match you were in were a 10.3-11.3 and you got a lucky roll in the free window BR of 9.7-10.7 :)

Ah okay that makes sense. So it’s based in the BR range of the match, not just the specific player.

My take on this is that it is a very good idea, when implemented properly. The lvl 1 crews are completely fair, I don’t mind. But a lvl 1 crew and a completely stock tank is not it. I hate using HEAT in top tier so much that I will always just GE the first APFSDS round for a vehicle.

If you’re a player with a singular premium and you’re grinding the British tech tree then you are essentially set to have an entire line up you can reliably use (most high tier British vehicles have no HEAT shells) but for every other tree you’re kinda out of luck.

I agree. This change is an obviously P2W mechanic, designed to give premium players with high-ranking pack vehicles even more dominance over the battlefield. Now that every premium vehicle comes with another similar-rank tank and SPAA, premium spam will become even more cancerous.

Meanwhile, players who grinded their way up the ranks are punished, and the very essence of this game is damaged. It’s bad enough having people buy their way to the top, but it’s even worse when the people who honestly put in the effort are the ones who suffer from this change.

Make no mistake, you will inevitably see many players defend this mechanic, as they are either the ones Gaijin is pandering to or the willfully unaware. The gradual oversimplification of the game, the lack of bug fixes and quality content, the masses of unique vehicles locked behind a paywall, and this new addition of free vehicles to lineups - they’re all manifestations of the same problem, which eventually will lead to the fall of War Thunder.

Another important topic of note is the fact that SPAA are included in the lineups. While Gaijin presumably intends for the random added vehicles to not be powerful (given that the vehicles in the new mechanic are stock and have base crews), they have made a large oversight in their implementation of this mechanic. Most SPAA at the BRs specified, 9.3 and above, have no significant differences between their stock and fully unlocked versions. They have the same radar capabilities, the same missiles, or the same shells.

Therefore, this is an incredibly unjustified mechanic, especially given that players can even receive vehicles above their maximum BR!

I can’t see many people spawning a stock spaa with crew level 1 in order to combat CAS.
All this does is give if CAS an easy target to remove enemy team tickets.

Well, the idea behind them is awesome but the implementation of this idea is horrible. You get stock vehicles with a stock crew that are basically just free kills for the enemies. While i somewhat get it that the crews are stock, i don’t understand how gaijin thought its a good idea to not even give them darts or just the bare minimum, parts and fpe. They are a useless addition and outside of using this feature once or twice to get a lucky kill on a light vehicle/spaa, i always preferred to just leave after i died in the rest of my deck
