Feedback - Falkland Islands

When developing this location, we focused on satellite images of the terrain to understand what kind of biomes prevail on the islands. The terrain in most places is generally wet and rugged with a lot of grass plains and smaller hills. In terms of homes, the island consists of one to two-story houses that were generally built quickly. There are only a few large towns on the islands, the rest of the population live on farms and are generally spread quite widely across the rocky terrain.

In terms of size, the location is 130 x 130 km, making it one of the largest air maps in the game. This means that you’ll be able to fly over all of the island and see areas such as Stanley, the capital of the island, Fox Bay, Goose Green and many other famous parts. This location has been designed with top tier jet battles in mind, where it will be available around this Battle Rating.

Feel free to share your feedback regarding this new location here!

The map itself looks really good visually flying around but for the most part it just seems really empty.

Everything is clumped into the middle of the map which makes the rest of the map seem barren and a waste of space.

The ground targets could be more spread out along with the bases so that people aren’t all just mashed into the middle. Or if not why not add in some more ground units or bases to fill out the space? You could for example add in some of the AA units added to Golan Heights or Mysterious Valley.

You know you have all this space so why not use it?

Also massive amounts of water would allow for not only the addition of carriers for both teams but also for some naval targets scattered around so that aircraft with anti-ship weaponry can try them out on actual naval targets. (Would also be a good start for getting more anti-ship weaponry added to the game.)

Also the shrinking of the map is a tragedy. When announce I know loads of players were hoping we could see the whole island modelled 1:1 or as close as possible. Instead it’s less than half it’s size.

Also a Sim version needs to be added.

Does it have the ski jump carriers?

No, it gets no carriers at all currently

*sad harrier noises *

quite good map, at least visual part
but its still too small - would like it to be at least 200x200 km.
aswell as carriers - they surely needed here.

also would like to see it in air sim.

That. Very much.

I don’t understand why they didn’t keep it geographically accurate.

That too, but frankly it would have worked better with accurate size. In the implemented stat the rather small but “concentrated” landmass may actually become an issue for high tier Sim especially…

Or why they said it was 1 to 1 scale on the dev stream when it clearly isn’t

Or that yeah…

It could end up being the worst top tier sim map, in which case, the wait continues for a single new top tier SB map

It would be better, in my opinion, if it had the geographically correct size, but cropped to 130x130, instead of artificially shrunk to fit 130x130…

Yeah unfortunately it probably would be. Probably would end up without room for carriers but would at least have room for a “wider” map

prob they just need to update game engine and make proper scale and larger map overall

Can we get more harrier buffs with the map coming???

Deluxe variant: the 300x200km variant you have been proposing for ages

Another variant: properly sized 130x130 maps, but in 3 variants, East, Central, West.

Or at least: properly sized, only one variant (Central?)

The solution which was chosen now however seems the worst of all possibilities, and was something that never ever would have crossed my mind…

Just triple checked my map was right

210km wide from 2 points visible on the current map that are near the edges of this “130km wide map”

Spoiler

Microsoft/Asobo have a 510 million square kilometer map… ;-)

Yeah… Any of othose would do and be far better than what we got.
