Feedback - Falkland Islands

too small
we need more
space!

one team spawning on Mercury and the other spawning on Pluto might finally be enough space for top tier combat

As someone who did 7 tours here during my career, I will be scrutinising this minutely!! I have not looked in the dev server yet, but do notice from the ingame image posted above that targets are over to the west and south of the Islands and not the major ones from '82. Looks like a custom in the CDK is required ;)
Can someone pop up an image of the area in game? Ta.

I dont think its a custom map yet. Only in the MM. I shall go check for you though and grab you screenshots/video if it is

It doesnt appear to be at the moment.

Thanks for looking, Morvan_, appreciate it. I will wait for release :) Looking forward to making customs on there, both for '82 and present day!

Now how about a ground version for the scimitars? XD

They need to buff the Scimitars speed, armour, and handling.

This would be so badass, we really need a ground version/alternate history of Falklands :p

Why is it so small? It does not seem correct.

Also, why no carrier? Sea harrier should come from the sea 😿

Sea Harrier doesn’t even have a gunsight on dev, ohh and shooting its rockets now shoots the Sea Harrier. Its very effective as a fighter in War Thunder… Not

I did not say it was good, just that the lack of carrier for conflict notable for sea harrier is very sad.

would atleast have it be 1:1 scale but limit it to whatever the max map size is now with using a part of it. And keeping the rest maybe for an future expansion of max size map in air battles to 300 x 300 or something similar

Very sad indeed

After flying on this map, I’ve got to say—the visual work is outstanding. There’s a level of detail in the geography that really caught my attention, especially knowing how closely it reflects the actual Falkland Islands. Hats off to the designers on that front.

What surprised me, though, was how the map felt smaller than expected. Not in raw distance, necessarily, but in terms of how the space is used. The dev blog mentioned 130x130 km, and naturally I pictured something where maybe East Falkland took centre stage, with parts of West Falkland coming into play. But in practice, it feels like the entire map was shaped to fit a predefined square, rather than letting the islands themselves dictate the layout. That’s what threw me. When I heard it being “1:1 scale" on one of those dev streams (I get that things said in passing aren’t official, but still), I assumed we’d be flying in something shaped by the real geography—not reshaped to fit inside a box.

That’s not just a nitpick—it affects how the map plays. Wide terrain is there, but much of it goes unused. Objectives end up pulling everyone into the centre, and for a map like this, it feels like a missed opportunity. Not every map needs scattered targets, but this one really would benefit from dispersed bases, ground targets, and especially naval convoys or task groups that actually make use of all that space.

I know it’s early days and things may still change, but I’d love to see a version of this map that leans into its full potential—both visually and tactically.

I do like having the whole island. I haven’t been able to play and explore the map in a custom yet so I can’t say how the map feels on the ground and in the air but I can imagine it feeling slightly off.

I’d say it’s fine as is although if I had a magic wand, we’d be seeing some kind of 400km^2 super map.

Gaijin : In addition, errors in rendering accuracy and game physics will likely prevent full enjoyment of flying at points more than 120–150 km away from zero (i.e. the natural limit is approximately 300x300 km). In the future, we may increase accuracy at such distances if there is demand for it among location creators.

Why would a location creator create a ‘too big’ map that had errors?

However as player, we demand larger, more accurate maps…

Please

300X300 still nearly triple what we have now

and this is the best answer i’ve seen to the issues:

Going to be a bit boring with no opposing vehicles.

They need to switch from float to double… 32bits to 64.

Non trivial yes but 100% doable…

the 128km limit would become 2.6e + 67 km… bigger than the size of the universe?

:p

Im guessing they won’t because server costs will increase :(
