I have the honor to greeting, gentlemen and ladies!
The events that blew like such a pleasant breeze from the waters of the War Thunder Fleet could not leave indifferent any of the currently active and enthusiastically returning naval commanders of our, without irony, beloved project.
But who would have dared to anticipate something like this just a few months ago?..The hopes of many ordinary players and representatives of the “repair coalition” fleets have come true, because both the reworked ballistics of the naval mode and the corrected system of compartments have surpassed all the wildest hopes and proposals!
The developers’ favorable attention to the needs of the naval component of the project rightfully instills gratitude for the work done in the hearts of all those who are not indifferent to the fleet and makes us wait for further development of the mode and new achievements.
And the trends sweeping through the forum inspire bold guesses that the expectations are by no means false!..
But what can naval commanders expect in the future?..
Somewhere a phrase flashed that the War Thunder Fleet is waiting for the appearance of naval legends. What grandiose names come to mind with this phrase alone - and who does not expect the appearance of glorious ships of the end, middle, or, perhaps, the beginning of the 20th century?..
When speaking about the legends of the Fleet, what can each of us mean?
Some may expect the appearance of the usual rulers of the oceans; some may expect the monstrous Raiders who opposed them, and was made to rule the waves of seven seas; those who are waiting will not remain indifferent to the carriers of the largest calibers in the history of the created fleet, as well as the majestic battleships that have survived the era itself, which have found themselves on the other side of them.
But if everything is more or less obvious with the main giants, then what about the legendary ships of the Russian Navy? As a representative of the RIF, I cannot help but ask myself this question. Are players expecting the grandiose Projects of the mid-20th century, one of the representatives of which has already become “Kronstadt”?..
Undoubtedly!
Spoiler: Illustrations in the game and in thoughts
Project-69, Kronstadt, War Thunder
Project-23, Soviet Union, hypothetical
However, the battleship “Soviet Union”, which did not have time to be fully realized in metal, is by no means the new thing that earned itself the title of 20th century LEGEND of the Russian Navy in the face of history.
Not the most modern, not the most powerful, inferior in one way or another in quality and quantity, but they boldly entered into battle with a superior enemy and, through the actions of their crews, earned the right to remain memorable to their descendants for centuries; Ships whose glorious names were proudly worn on the cap of each sailor, and in the heart of each officer of ship!
The greatest legend, which did not allow the glory of the Russian Navy to fade even in the depths of the darkest events, the ship that did not flinch from the strikes of the Kaiser’s drednougnts, the Hero of Moonzund - whose name is consonant with its feat - Battleship-Predreadnought “Slava”(Glory).
The elder sister-progenitor of the Heroine of the Baltic (Slava), which entered service at the very beginning of the century and became the luckiest and most successful in its class, the last survivor in the hecatombs of general battles, having survived all the battles of the Russo-Japanese and First World Wars, where it also formed a combat pair for “Slava” - Battleship-Predreadnought “Tsesarevich”.
Another older sister of the famous battleship, which heroically led the 2nd Pacific Squadron in the Battle of Tsushima after the flagship was disabled, the most worthy ship of the Russian Baltic Fleet, which did not give a name to the project, but became the lead ship in the Borodino class - ‘Guards’ Battleship-Predreadnought “Emperor Alexander III”.
And in this pantheon of legends there is a place for the most real symbol of the era of the Russian Navy. The guns of this ship, passing three oceans, confronted the squadrons of the Japanese fleet, and half a century later for the second time defended the Northern Capital of Russia from the German hordes - and to this day one of the oldest cruisers built still stands guard over her Homeland - Protected Cruiser “Aurora”.
I wrote about some of these ships here on the forum myself, and other suggestions were made by other users.
Some of these ships have already been approved for inclusion in the War Thunder!
Many months ago, the pages of the old-forum knew the following promising lines…
Spoiler: Considered in the past
Now that the conditions that have been created seem to be more than favorable for the emergence of these Legends, one would like to ask - what is the fate of such glorious ships in the future of the War Thunder naval mode?
As we can see, each of these proposals has quite a few “yes” votes, which demonstrates the audience’s interest in these ships.
And this is only on this forum.
But if look at how many votes for the introduction of one of that legengs received on the ru-version forum?..
What we have seen allows us to state that these voices not only demonstrate the audience’s interest in specific legendary ships, but also make these ones among the most popular in general.
Especially in light of the fact that some pre-dreadnought era class ships are still getting the go-ahead to appear in the future.
Spoiler: Some examples
Considered IJN Mikasa
Considered KMS Schleswig-Holstein
Considered SMS Erzherzog Franz Ferdinand
Considered HNLMS De Zeven Provincien
Considered RN San Giorgio
IJN Ikoma and IJN Kurama already exist and are doing quite well.
Each fleet had its own legendary and familiar ships.
Do the developers remember the previously stated ones?
Are you, who dropped by to read this thread, interested in pre-dreadnought era ships and are you looking forward to them?
Questions, the answers to which can be given by time and future!
But we can try to offer our own answer.
- Yes! Bring glorious pre-dreadnought ships into the game!
- Probably. But in the classes mentioned, many others are also interesting.
- No, the pre-dreadnought era is not interesting.
Of course, a well-read viewer can easily remember and offer their own versions of glorious names in the class of pre-dreadnought or other ships of a similar era that could be embodied within the framework of the game’s naval mode - that’s what the comments can serve for!
On this note, I thank you all for your possible interest and attention.
