Fast and Dangerous: R400

Diesel engines have Low & High mode. The users can switch from low or high RPM to achieve higher HP engine output. This is basic engine mechanics.

So the only living prototype chassis that was restored (Mind you only ONE was made), is reported to have a 500PS output by the person who restored it in 2003-2008?

You still need to provide them a source that this higher engine-output was officially available to the vehicle.
The claims of the person that restored the vehicle are most likely not sufficient, as there is no way to prove their reliability (the same person also claimed the vehicle never had a designation other than “TH 400” which is just flat out wrong).

There’s literally no other reliable source as the company original TH is defunct. The only reasonable information available is the ONE PERSON ON THE PLANET who has the RESTORED ORIGINAL CHASSIS. You could probably contact RLS about getting information but there’s no shot since the project was deemed killed.

Edit: He also has contact information and you can even go to the exhibit its in apparently to see it in person if we really want to get really nitpicky in details of confirming if the source is real.

The vehicle was offered by Rheinmetall DeTec after aquiring Thyssen Henschel.
It was shown at EUROSATORY 2000 under the designation “H 400” (H refering to HENSCHEL Wehrtechnik, a subdivision) and was later renamed to R 400 at some point in 2001.

There are plenty of sources that list the 320kW figure.
You can also contact the ThyssenKrupp Archive (Sub-archive; Thyssen Henschel) in Duisburg and ask them for digitized brochures of the vehicle.

Once again, you need evidence that the ingame-configuration (QA already got mad at me for this one) had this increased engine-output available to it.
The Leopard 1a5 turret was fitted in 2003 and the vehicle we have in game is a configuration from 2000/2001.

I think you’re not reading what I’m saying. It’s not RATED specifically at 320 KW. The engine model is rated to run from Low to High mode from 320 KW to 370 KW.

It’s literally in the Daimler Benz document. You’re proving what I’m saying if you’re sourcing the 320KW figure.

The engine is permitted to run at 370 KW for 1 hour maximum, intermittently every 6 hours.

yea i played it and cant understand the 9.7 with 11km reverse and -7 depresion and bad acceleration

WT community <3

report was closed but maybe you could sign up in this forum and ask if there are any pictures of the engine specifically

I played two games in it (fully stock with HEATFS) - Not going to use it until it’s not the new toy on the block. Right now the games are full of teams of R400, often single vehicle lineups. Then you have the vultures who are queuing up to harvest these event vehicles (using XM800T and such). Will give it a proper judgement down the track.

One thing I did notice is the nice gunners sight magnification.

Doesn’t feel like a 9.7 BR light. Its not that fast for a light wheely, acceleration and reverse below average. Slow turret. Average gun.

When I check other nations tech tress I guess 9.0 would be appropriate. And Radkampfwagen 9.7.

9.3 would be fairly solid imo, fits with the lineup there, just need the Panzer 2000 from the swiss and we have another autocannon LT at 9.3 for the lineup

Fixed 8x is not very good tbh. Not great for sniping and meh for close range because of tunnel vision

Reminds me of the VFM5

Other guy already posted a source on the engine model type without even seeing it. Truly the state of the WT community.

I’ll go make the report again with my Mercedes-Benz document.

Referred to it wrong, it’s post-aquisition but Idk which exact edition.
Dont have the time for checking atm, but its prob somewhere in one of these;

Edit:
This one also has a bunch of Jane’s and the Jane’s IDR (JIDR) publications but not as much iirc

Can’t locate Jane’s 1997-98 which is where I believe the information lies.

Previous notions always lead to this book but I can’t find any electronically.

Its not 1997/98 as it’d pre-date the Rheinmetall DeTec aquisition of Thyssen Henschel in 2000. (which is mentioned in the article)

Could not locate the exact PDF unfortunately. If you have the time to and figure it out let me know.

Just for the record, they do not accept Jane’s or Jane’s IDR as sources.

I updated the comment I linked the two drives in with another one that has other sources (e.g. Soldat Und Technik, Wehrtechnik, MILTECH etc.) - your best bet is to look for anything related in those.
