Fair Play: November 2024

Imho you need to calm down & relax.

A quote from the team killing thread:

Idk why you try and others try to create a drama out of this. Multiple temp bans for team killing will result in a perma ban. So either the players l2p and come the right conclusions after getting banned multiple times - or they have to face:

Who tanked falling through the Nine Realms/Yggdrasil better? MCU Thor ...

No idea how you and others think that there was a manual action behind this temp ban wave; there is zero evidence for that. We live in times of big data - all they had to do is to determine a threshold for the number of team kills and friendly damage and run a script.

It would destroy any remaining realism in Ground RB and Air RB - area bombing in Ground RB without considering damage to friendlies is no challenge; same as brain dead spraying or missile slinging in Air RB.

Not hard to understand.

I have to agree with this. War Thunder would start to bleed players. I think my issue is, until I see what the threshold is, and Gaijin will most likely never share that, I don’t trust them to not use such a system maliciously. Of the 22,000 or so slapped with some penalty, I’m willing to bet some, maybe not a lot at all, got slapped because of a few accidents.

Since Gaijin let’s just about anyone buy their way into top tier, TKs from IR missiles are always going to be a thing. Unless they intend to force every player into a tutorial on how to use them, just saying they exist wouldn’t be enough.

The simplest solution is to just disable teamkilling. They did it for Arcade, they did it for ground real battle, and I can’t speak for Naval. So all that’s left is Realistic Battles. Sim Battles everything is on the table so there’s no point. But the ability to do in ARG and GRB needs to be removed. It is by far the easiest solution.

Care to explain how your teammates are supposed to control you then?

You don’t have to play “perfect in every way” to be a bit careful, check your surroundings every once in a while and not shoot missiles when there are allies in missile range.

likely not just a “few” accidents. and if you repeat the same accidents over and over, they become intentional. because at some point you gotta ask yourself what you’re doing wrong and how to prevent repeating it. and no, always just blaming others is not the right way to do it.

or, you know, face consequences. but people are too sensitive for that.

if the game bleeds players bc they can’t be bothered to avoid teamkills, it would be a good thing for the rest of the playerbase.

or, you can go to arcade if you can’t be bothered to avoid teamkilling and let realistic be a little more realistic and mentally demanding than just blindly throwing your bombs everywhere and throwing a missile at everything.

only tank on tank. planes and helis can still teamkill tanks, and vice versa. and it was partially done for tanks because you could destroy allies’ barrels, tracks and open topped crew without penalty, you cant do anything similar in ARB.

Thing is, the player you quoted, whom I think is a relatively newer player, and your self cannot “guarantee” anything about what other players may or may not do. If y’all wanna stop playing because Other Players get banned for excessive team killing, that is up to you. And the other thing is, players have been banned for team killing all along, it just has never been made public/published before. These are not new Rules, the automated tk system is not new either. The parameters may have been changed, but players will not be given that info, for obvious reasons. It would seem like this whole thing is Gaijin telling the player base that “enough is enough” time to tighten up . … or they will. It’s pretty simple, not an “evil conspiracy” and has “forced” Gaijin to take action, because of the actions/behavior of the players. It is kind of sad it has come to this, and overreacting on both sides . . is not going to help or make things any easier.
In the end each of us can do a very few things try to make things better.
Be very careful and avoid doing tk’s for ANY reason. Learn/Know the Game Rules and report players “griefing” and allow the automated system to deal with the team killers. And lastly, have to have faith in the system.

I don’t think anyone is overreacting. At least I’m not seeing it. And regardless if they are a new player or not, they can still have that opinion and I just happen to agree with them. Especially when players are calling for the threshold to be lowered. Perma-banning seems like a terrible move for the livelihood for the game. I agree with such even as someone who actively tries to avoid doing the very thing in question as a sim player.

I do think something had to have changed to the system if Gaijin is spending/wasting (depending on your POV) the effort to openly discuss it. To me, there’s a better place to spend that effort, especially in terms of “making the experience better”. Spawn camping because of some terrible map design is a great example of that. Or the fact that airfield AA doesn’t actually protect the airfield 80% of the time.

Please tell me what part of my post made you think Im not calm and relaxed? like whats the point of you even saying this???

I thiink you are only one making drama out of this…

Stona and other literally said the reports are being manually checked…

Same as in my last reply to another player:

I mean the name “Realistic Battles” should give you enough indicators that friendly fire belongs to this mode. The fact that tankers were not able to understand this forced gaijin to disable friendly fire in order to protect players with more than one brain cell.

This does not imply that Air RB has to get further dumbed down by applying the same logic.

The problem is mainly based on the deterioration of player quality in Air RB. 5 years ago the life expectancy of a tanker in Air RB was almost zero as pilots dominated this mode. Now Air RB lobbies are filled with them - and they do the same as in Ground RB - spraying at their team mates right after spawn, rush like headless chickens to to the enemy, trade in a head-on, next match.

Can you give us an option to permanently not report/punish players who TK? Like put it in the options menu “Punish/Report Teamkills = Off”. I don’t care if I get teamkilled if it’s an accident or just carelessness, I’ll just respawn or go next game. I certainly don’t think that player should be banned for it on top of their loss of SL and possible kick from the match.

Just ban the serial griefers. For everything else it’s just a game, not a big deal.

Everything.

A friendly advice.

Lmao - you jump from one wild conclusion to the next and describe horror scenarios - and are concerned about a waste of resources for this ban wave.

I admit that your posts have a rather high entertaining value, but that’s all.

So what? There is no official statement that the temp ban wave was based on manual checks. So you tried to connect dots and you assume that this might be the case without having any data which would support your assumption.

When the GMs state that they were not part of this “event” and you have no data about how Gaijin Kft is staffed your assumption is a fact free opinion. You are entitled like everybody else to express this opinion - but in a public forum you might be challenged.

I am happy to change my mind if you could provide any direct or circumstantial evidence for your claim that the >20k temp bans <1 week were the product of manual investigations.

Team damage was removed because of political reasons, not because tank players are too stupid lol

dont you worry, alot of them are air only players too. ARB has the same problem of people not even trying to learn the game after buying into high tier just like GRB does.

I didn’t say anyone was, I was cautioning that it would not be a good idea, on either side
that’s all

That does NOT include team kill reports . . . this has been explained several times.
The Game Masters deal primarily with chat rule violations, among some other issues. Cheating and Team Kill violations are dealt with separately.

It says All reports, just put some time in reading

And those are not related to the ban wave as those are general statements as answers to a guy claiming mass-reporting gets people banned.

Oke so then these TK bans was from automated system?

Could we perhaps have the “accept apology” stay on the screen as long as the teamkillers player hasn’t returned to hangar?
Currently it appears very briefly and vanishes, and imo it’s not really soemthing I see happening a lot when people do teamkill accidentally or not, the part where it’s accepted.

When it’s happened to me I usually miss it for the above reason so don’t really get the opportunity to accept it, other than in chat and that’s I assume not the same thing to the system

From what we’ve read from the staff on this thread, it’s pretty clear all the bans this time (first time they’ve ever done a big sweep, ever) were:

  1. had a player complaint about you that could be verified in replay; AND
  2. had a large number of TKs on their record in the past, because that is a number that is tracked.

If those are the criteria, then it would be perfectly understandable why some people got missed. If they never got reported recently, total pass. If the replay that was given wasn’t actually rule breaking behavior, pass. If they didn’t have an unusual number of TKs, over whatever period of time they’ve been tracking TKs for, also total pass.
