I am not looking to grind Japan but just to get a jet I can have fun with from time to time and farm some SL, is the F2A ADTW decent at its BR? How does it handle uptiers with those AIM 7M?
Most people I see flying it have a terrible KDA so I am wondering if this is just a suffer machine or if you can do well in it if played properly? I know you can do this in any plane but like, is this a vehicle only for people that want to grind the tech tree and never play it again?

IMO if it got 7Ps i would already bought it. Seems fairly placed at 13.0, considering the premium hornets with similiar kits but lackin IRCCM IR missiles sit at 12.7
Moreso now that max BR is 14.3, ie. outside of full uptier range, 13.0 should become much more favorable in terms of matchmaking

F-2A ADTW works more like an ambusher and opportunist type of vehicle rather than frontline than other vehicles you’ll team up with, it has solid radar though is limited to track-while-search only so you’ll be giving up your position to anything with radar warning reciever. The airframe is good I’d say, it’s a enlarged F-16 so the flying performance is not the same, to be more exact worse.

there’s JAS39A at the same BR with worse IRCCM missiles and literal AIM-7E-2 unlike f2’s 7M and less missiles total and worse radar and also f2 beats it in dogfight

Yea, and 700~ CM, actual speed and great flight performance…
F-2 isn’t horrifically slow unlike hornet, and is also second best dogfighter in the game while also having a really good radar (which is useless with sparrows lmao) but it still gets imo the best short range ir missile in game and 4 radar missiles. Literally a better f15 at the same br, while still getting the same number of cm pops (120)

I think it was the worst purchase I made, seeing that the Su-30s are dominating and that the F-2A has unreliable Fox-1 missiles for its BR, and also that it is a second-line aircraft with a playstyle based on opportunistic engagements, which I don’t like at all. It’s true that it has an AESA radar, but what’s the point if you only carry Fox-1 missiles? It’s like having a Ferrari and being limited to 100 km/h.
The worst AESA radar I’ve ever seen.
with the advent of Rank IX it would not surprise me if they give it AAM-4s and a bump in BR

Personally I think the radar being as good as it has some use at 13.0 where some other radars aren’t (me when N001) purely for the situational awareness you get being able to see where people are quickly and fairly accurately
