I am wondering why is premium version of F2A in Ground RB on BR 12.3, when we have jets like Sweden Gripen A on 12.0 or Belgium F-16 on 12.0 too.

F2A has slightly better IR missiles, no HMD, no fire and forget munition on ground, but still on 12.3, whereas gripen and f16 have mavericks.

Gripen with GPS guided bombs is 12.7.
GNSS munitions are the safe weapons of current top BR ground.
HMD doesn’t impact BR.

If this topic were about air-realistic, I think I probably would object to you, and whine about why Gaijin don’t let it impact…

But I am here just asking for pure questioning, because I haven’t played top rank ground yet

If we just ignore the fact that Gaijin don’t give a damn about the existence of HMD or not, for arguing’s sake.
(If we don’t, I am seriously worried about derailment because of arguing about HMD which will follow. :/)

Does HMD make a big difference in GRB gameplay, just as it does in ARB?

I imagine it will go down if it’s JDAMs ever get removed (It should not have them, as they were added with the AMC OFP which added AAM-4s).

Im kinda curious just how low its BR would go cause of it, but that’s not really my thing, I don’t do GRB

Because F-2A has:

  • Bigger A2A loadout with its max A2G loadout (Gripen can only have 2x Aim-9M with its 4x A2G pylons vs 4x AAM-3 with 6x A2G pylons)
  • Better Tpod (Litening 2 vs Sniper)
  • More A2G capacity (6x A2G vs 4 A2G pylons)
  • AESA radar vs M-Scan radar (and currently the Gripen does not have GMTI, was meant to get it last major but was bugged and thus never made it to live)
  • Im not sure on how the ASM-2s are for anti-tank work, but if they do work, then it means the F-2A has 6x IR AGMs vs the Gripens 4 (edit, seems only to work when used with GMTI and doesnt really work, we’ll have to wait and see what the devs have planned for them)
  • F-2A can run double the number of GBUs as well with only 4/6 of its pylons.

Only real advantages the Gripen A has is CM count (which is mostly from BOLs which are nerfed through the floor at the moment and only if you arent running any A2G) and raw FM performance.

(also really minor thing, but the F-2A does have usable SARH as well)

(I feel like I should point out here that the Tornado Gr4 is also 12.3)

Could the Gripen A be 12.3? Potentially, but I think its just the devs throwing Sweden a bone as its their only viable CAS without taking 12.7s like the Gripen C or F-18C. Whilst Japan does have other options for 12.0.

Nah, ASM is practically impossible to use on ground because the sea skimming

yeah, I wasnt sure (heard a lot of hype about them) , but just tested them in a test flight and definetly buggy. I think they will be a case of “come back in 6 months and see if anything has changed”

Currently there are zero aircraft whose exclusive difference is HMD with different BRs.
Someone attempted and failed to use the Mirage 2000D RMV, but the gunpod difference drastically changes flight performance as well as allows for more flexible fuel loads.

Of course if we discuss that, it probably should be outside this topic.

No matter how Gaijin think it is BR factor or not. :(

My experience in ARB made me believe that it needs to be a BR factor in ARB

(We might agree to disagree about this ARB part bc it will derail things.)

But really have no idea about GRB because I never played planes with HMD in GRB.

Is HMD ‘that’ big in there too?

Im of the opinion that it only makes a major impact if you have HOBS. If not, its relatively minor.

For Example Mirage 2000D to Mirage 2000D RMV. HMD is a big buff.

Tornado Gr1 to Tornado Gr4. HMS is hardly worth even mentioning

It does not have Sniper, it has the less impressive J/AAQ-2. There is also no laser-guided bombs or AGMs since it does not have a laser designator.

All F-2A ADTW gets is GPS bombs it does not have sniper it has the flir pod. And you have to sacrifice all fox 3s to even use all your cas ordinance.

It has no laser weapons just gps

My bad then, though still does look like a more usable multirole than the Gripen A does at the moment and way stronger than more than a few 12.3s
