now the main issue isn’t the modes its its fucking abysmal population rate and scan speed you’re not really going to BVR with it r-60m is literally a worse 9l in all but the most edge case launches if you’re dogshit you’ll die to it.

Bet this guy didn’t even test flight F-18 how struggle it is the plane top speed make this thing so slow and the plane didn’t keep much speed either and then what cry about 10 missiles? It doesn’t even matter much you’re not going to catch anyone and Sparrow F+ works around 10km ish plus it’s SARH and it need to keep locking until reached the target also 6 9Ls and then?And you know how easily can flare 9L? And the most effective way it to shoot at the rear to get the most flare resistance and then how is this thing gonna catch British Phantom? While you struggle 1.04~06 mach on the deck and that plane run away from you further than 4km? What a joke.

I love the R-darters/derby personally, my only gripe with them is the low explosive payload
could say the same for Russia.
BVR performance is abysmal yes but medium to close range they are amazing
thats the other thing i don’t understand people constantly hate on the r77 because its worse than the aim120 at long range
but if the r77 had the same range has the aim120 they would still not be able to use it effectively given the Russian tws radars (su27sm) are horrible

The mig29 radar is still more useful than the F-16ADF, F-14, M2k… You don’t need AESA scan rate for 12.7. And both r60m/aim9l aren’t tools for BVR since you can’t get a lock to begin with. I use the r60m within gun range and it works more often than Aim9L in those cases.
The aim9L is more useful if you are unspotted and at high altitude, but they will be flared off if your target fires a missile at someone so that’s not very consistent.
Also, due to how desync is often present, the faster acceleration of the r60m gives no time for reactions unless you are an F-5 with ice packed engines, at very close ranges.

I totally agree. Where is it carved in stone there is an invisible BR ceiling anyway? It’s a freaking game, this isn’t an unbendable law of physics. Just open up the BR range for everything to some arbitrary number say 100 whatever, then just balance the damn trees. However I suspect that there are ancient spaghetti code issues from 2013 or so and Snail doesn’t want to invest the money to properly overhaul it. So incrementalism is the method of choice. Course doesn’t help that the fighter mafia brats are forever crying about their favorite broken Russian et al plane to constantly be OP.

I mostly play air sb at top tier at this point where the radar quality matters unlike RB since you can just trog IRST HMD lock a red name switch to PD to avoid your shit radar
