Perfect, you figured out how to use the forum. I would say that it is that much because it is the only mod for its tier, and to make it give the equivalent bonus RP to similar jets (like the F-16A it is foldered with), it needs to be worth 99k-100k rp.

Makes sense, probably the only plane I’ve used that has one modification in tier 4
I think it is probably the only one at top tier that has a single mod in tier 4; the only others I could think of were the JAS37D/DI, but they both have 2 (at 50k a piece).
Edit: the Italian F-16A ADF also only has one mod at tier 4, but it is a copy-paste of the American F-16A so it makes sense.
This is the reason its a tuer 4 mod and its the only one, on release the JA37D had 2 tier 4 mods, engine and RB71, both were 81k rp its how gaijin balances put lack of mods with a total RP, look at the Finnish F-18C’s they have less mods and thus all there mods are more expensive, US tier 3 is 25k vs Finnish Tier 3 being 36k rp, it makes grinding a vehicle more difficult imo for expensive mods like that

Each tier for every aircraft takes roughly the same amount of RP to unlock every mod. That cost is divided among all the mods. With only 1 mod, its not been split at all.

As what has everyone else already said but it used to be only 50000 rp back when the Engine fire suppression system was a modification yet with that removed it became 100000 rp since each rank has its own allotted RP amounts.

another similar case happens at chinese mirage, with 81k rp for one mod at level 3
