I think the main thing in that respect is the intertial guidance thingy. Skyflash explodes when radar is notched. R27er keeps “going”
Sea harrier thrwad implies differently, but i dont know first hand
Fair enough the thread is probably right
Yeah… which is just how the missile works and once you understand it, it stops killing you. Its a lack of understanding that kills you.
Also, sparrows don’t destruct once notched. They take a while to decide to blow up. You can easily start notching it, then see it go dumb, then pull out of the notch and it will have time to re-acquire and then even have the agility to then get you. It’s happened to me before and I’ve done it to other people before.
The Aim-9M has a BOL rail for nearly all aircraft that could use it. The F16C is missing its as well. You should be able to have both.
The sparrows do as well, despite the flight manual saying they will run for 60 seconds (without any lock) when fired boresight until they find something. This is both with narrow and wide gate (but wide gate is not advised to avoid friendly fire).
Neither of them should detonate until they miss a target, or until the timer runs dead. They should also continue to follow the target as long as any radar reflectivity is seen, no matter how small. This whole “hard lock” crap is not how they work. Otherwise DTT wouldn’t work IRL.
Its either poor programming, or intentional nerfing for NATO. I am going with the second half.
İt happened, initial booster level has been nerfed while sustained one increased.
Nope. The missile was changed. Not just nerfed. Many aspects were buffed. Overall I find it to be SUPERIOR to its old stats.
Can i get your sources on that?
Cause i saw the datamine and it stated that sustained booster duration was increased while initial one nerfed. G overload increased from 30 to 35 but that doesnt mean too much.
F-16 and MiG-29 are the best proof available for a hard BR wall at 11.7
The flight performance alone is enough to make these leaps and bounds ahead of the competition
Ive never used aim7m but skyflash STs self destruct after about 3 seconda. I dont know if that is accurate
That is incorrect behavior. Their are a couple ways this has been tackled over the years. But if the rocket motor is still running, and it detonates. Then its wrong in nearly all cases. Some of the missiles have detectors that will detonate after it realizes it passes the target but was too far to set off the proximity fuse. If you engage a new target however, this should update in the missile and keep going.
We’re still getting the rare occasion where it self destructs with radar lock. When F3 was new, it did that on the regular
I have had Sparrows and Aim-9s do this as well.
I have never had an R27ER or R73 do this. I have had these completely miss, and lock onto the next target and get a kill just fine.
Right now this is something only russian planes get.
I still have Sparrows just blow up after launch despite maintaining hard locks. It’s so infuriatingly often that I don’t bother much with top tier, and when I do I just run IR loadouts.
F16s destroying? Utter nonsense statement.
I asked over in the other thread and i understand my mistake/misinterpretation.
Its either BOL with 1x Aim9M or twin mount with 2x Aim9M, but no BOL. On its 2 pylons
Thanks for getting back to me, I thought it went something like that but never sure, If it got that payload the thing could be pretty viable.
This is correct. The F16 is missing its twin and triple rails as well.
Could i suppose run 1 twin mount on one wing and 1 BOL on the other. 3 Aim9M and 1 BOL for the best of both worlds.
Yes, if they modeled it correctly.
Once we get our Aim-120s (which will likely be nerfed). The way it should work is you put your BVR missiles on the outside pylons (shed weight early on the wing tips) and run your Aim-9M on your center pylons.
Yeah, lack of guns either way could be interesting. Though 30mm ADENs have never been good for me. So im not too worried about that
