IRIAF never had AIM-9M and there is plenty of unreliable documentation to imply that they were testing the R-73 on the F-14A.
The only reliable thing they can claim to have tested the R-73 on a USA aircraft is on an F-4D Phantom II because there are photos or footage as far as I know.
FGR2 is an overtiered garbage that should be 11.7. It has no freaking business being 12.0 with Skyflash, no slats and no HMD. The F4S and F4J overperform it in every stats that matters.
So is the F-14A. F-14A is faster, more agile, can bring up to 6 Aim7F, and the IRIAF can bring R27R which have double the range of the Skyflash plus IOG.
You shouldn’t EVER lose a fight against an FGR2 with a F-14 if you have two braincells. The F-14 is simply superior in every single thing at every single range. You have better missile and radar at long range, and you have better performances at close range. The FGR can’t even run if it wants to, the F14 is faster.
Heck, right now the Tornado F3 is a better plane than the FGR2, and not by a bit. It has 9L, Supertemp (which are skyflash but two time faster), more countermeasures, and the best radar of 12.0. It’s actually insane to claim Phantoms are any better than the F-14A. The only phantom that can somewhat compete is the F4EJ Kai and only at long range.
It is literally better than the J model in WVR because of Spey engine.
Probably the best 2C fighter in the Phantom variants.
That said, the current British Phantom is in a neutered state due to Gaijin’s terrible AAM modeling and balancing.
It should get AIM-9L and fix the Skyflash seeker and stay at 12.0 or 12.3.
Historically, Skyflash uses inverse monopulse seeker, so it should be able to ignore multipathing and hit the target even if the target is hugging the ground.
Skyflash/7E2 issues are their range. While you can dodge a 7F with a good maneuver, it’s honestly a risky gamble and the 7F carrier can start putting the pressure at 20km while Skyflashes falls out of the sky after 8km. The supertemp on the tornado solve the issue by being much faster, which can give them an edge over the R530/7F/27R because they can afford to fire second, or stay agressive if they fire first.
Skyflash carrier with 9H can’t do any of this. They have to get in uncomfortable close range. And even if the FGR2 is more agile than the 4J, it’s still a goddamn Phantom. It’s not winning dogfights against most of the planes it fights, and certainly not a F14. Even for the Kurnass it’s not quite easy.
That guy said a lot of BS, especially that the F4 is a better dogfighter and of course the IRIAF is a much better plane but this point isn’t wrong. Fakour is not a hard missile to avoid if you have a modern digital RWR… Every missile in the game are easy to avoid in BVR, especially if you know they are coming (and dont fly at Mach 1.3 headon at 5000m+) but the fakour doesn’t have a hard kill window like other non phoenix based fox-3 or even sarh missile. You can’t launch a fakour at sub 10km (more like 5-7km) and be sure of a kill. It doesn’t have the maneuverability of the aim-120, r77, r27 or even aim7f.
You are always depending on your target to be an idiot or distracted by something else when using the fakour or phoenix. With something like the aim-120 or r-27R(not even the ER) you always have the possibility to get close and launch at a near undodgeable distance.
The “pressure” from 20km on literally means nothing.
That’s because every SARH missiles, including R-27ER, can be nullified by simply hugging the deck.
And that’s why modeling inverse monopulse seeker is needed in the game.
If it is implemented, SARH with inverse monopulse seeker should be far more lethal at close range.
Doesn’t it only get four Fox threes to the other f-14s 6 and then the rest of it is worse aim9 and aim7e (df) I can’t really speak to the fakour 90 tho
Multipath is much harder to exploit than before. Most players don’t even try anymore. I certainly don’t. I just notch once or use terrain masking and get back into the fight.
its really funny cause the only way to dodge them is multipathing, i was able to notch quite early against an AIM-54C and chaffing the whole time and it still hit me. hmmmmmmm
Claiming the Fakour is the “most OP missile in game” is the most hilarious shit
Let me reiterate that the IRIAF is in a much better place than the US F14A but this is just LOL.
I checked at your profile and as expected you barely have any experience with T8 planes. You pretty much only have the F16A MLU with an abysmal 44% wr in over 200 battles. Even at T7 you can’t break 50% with 5-6 different aircraft. You can’t blame the F14 for all these different planes. You may need to upgrade your notching game or knowledge about radar/rwr/radar missiles but you’re obviously doing something wrong.
