So I’m curious about the various munitions loadouts of the F14s. Recently, I noticed a few things about the F14A in the game, and I’m curious what’s accurate and what’s not. For example:
Is it possible for AIM54s to be mounted on the wing pylons with the centre pylon being fully populated by Sparrows? I don’t see any reason why not, as the wing pylons have cooling racks that are independent of the centreline ones (You can also carry ground ordnance with only wing Phoenixes). I can see why operationally they’d never be used, though, but that’s part of the discussion.
I’m not sure where to go about finding the information, as I only came across one blogpost showing a munitions layout and a post about a DCS guide for the F14 that mentioned the cooling racks.
Gaijin disallows the use of the 7Fs due to collision issues with the cooling racks, but allows the use of 7E2s despite collision with the cooling racks (probably a bug), so I’m also curious about the real world vs in-game usages of these weaponry
