you have it easy try using the f.3
by the time im done notching phoenixes the match is half done
boohoo the f-14 is just at the right br
well give the other planes fox 3s
If it takes you longer than a minute to defeat AIM-54s… try this.
Terrain follow, start the match by going straight into the battlefield.
IF an AIM-54 is launched on you, you notch toward your friendlies while terrain following, and chaff a few times.
Huge IF, cause most matches I don’t even get launched on by F-14s.
And of the 3 notable times in the last few days, their missiles were defeated within 20 seconds.
Sometimes I’m on on Hong Kong, Pyrenees, or Mysterious Valley and there’s a mountain that has me defeat the missile in 1 - 5 seconds.
Complaining about AIM-54 is like complaining about AIM-9E or AIM-7D.
Unless you’re doing BVR yourself, there’s no reason to not terrain follow.
i still stand by my point.
uptier the f-14 if they cant balance the pheonixes
AIM-54 is already ballanced. It’s a head-on only 16G radar missile.
You defeat it a similar way as you defeat SARHs with an extra radar to yeet.
AIM-7s are more powerful against fighters than AIM-54.
AIM-54’s pitbull range [16km], and an AIM-7F launched from 16km… the AIM-7F will score a frag against equally skilled opponents far more often due to its vastly superior maneuverability.
Treat the AIM-54 like the threat it is: An AIM-7D with a PD radar in its nose. The max range really doesn’t matter cause you’re actively defeating it within 16km; and passively defeating it by making sure F-14s don’t spot you to begin with.
Idk about Aim-7, I figured out about how to use radar and launched AIM-7F’s at 50, 40 and 30km range without success in my F-20 Tigershite. And the green Box stayed on the target and I had a good double circle lock.
skill doesnt matter when theres 4+ tomcats flying low orbit and your forced to play close to the ground i dont understand why youre trying to justify the tomcats at all
CBA i dont want f-14s in my games make it so its pre f-14 surely the new BR decompression changes are enough
Cause there are many other aircraft at 12.3 and 12.7 that force you to the deck in the same exact way: F-4EJ Kai, Mirage 2000, F-4J’s 12.0, Mig-29, Yak-141.
Outside Mirage 2000, the rest have 100km class SARHs hosted by PD radars, with only F-4J having PDV, and only Mirage 2000 being “head-on” only.
Honorable mention: Mig-21Bison, F-4FG series, Tornado ADV, JA37C and D.
Less range on their threatening SARHs.
right and my harrier with no fox 1s has to face an f-14
So does mine, that’s why we have a digital RWR and the knowledge of terrain following.
Cause the threats against Harrier don’t disappear just cause 1 of the 20 move up by 0.3.
go make a post bout how you want the f-14 to stay as it is
I don’t know the answer of balancing subsonic jets that can’t deal with themselves that well [Sea Harrier].
What I do know is the supersonic stuff.
And the only way F-14A is going up is if all of 12.3, nearly all to all of 12.0, and at least most of 11.3 is going up with it… along with all of 12.7+ going up with all of those.
AKA decompression.
Well the R-27ER is almost impossible to dodge so I don’t blame you for that because it accelerates so fast and can pull extremely hard.
For Sparrows I don’t recommend trying to defeat it kinematically if its launched further than 6km and within 15km at low altitude but its definitely possible outside of that range. You just have to know at what range the missile was launched from either by game sense or seeing it physically.
Here’s what dodging a Sparrow looks like:
The Sparrow-F are very lazy since they take a bit to get up to speed unlike the E2 or the ER so within 6km you can dodge them pretty easily and reliably as well.
The simple speed adjustment did the trick.
Today I didnt take my M2KCS4 over mach 1 when I had missile shot at me or going into dogfights. I still have the tendency to put it into full burner but it really isnt needed.
Anyway I dodged, save for 2 or 3, pretty much all missiles shot at me (that I was paying attention to). The wingslats don’t wanna extend beyond like 0.9 or 0.95. If I just remember to not go over that I seem to dodge most anything now. Styled on a couple tomcats that wanted to dogfight too.
I could already handle myself in a dogfight in this thing but yesterday it clicked to drop my speed to below mach in a dogfight already.
Anyway, thanks for reminding me to drop my bloody speed to dodge missiles as well. I dont know why THAT didnt occur to me when it DID for dogfights, but here we are
Glad it worked out for you. Phoenixes are a lot more vulnerable than you think.
Speaking of going too fast, a funny strategy I like to do once in a while is go Mach 1.7-2.0 in my MiG-23ML (because the MiG-23 can accelerate extremely fast at high altitude) kind of going around the map to avoid Phoenixes and trying to rush the F-14s landing after their Phoenix dumping and then sending an R-24T at long range with the assistance of IRST at Mach 1.7-2.0. Its an effective way of cleaning up the F-14s with little effort lmao.
why the f14 br is nonsensical summarized in 2 images
The F-20A has a superior radar, engine, and weaponry.
The only downsides of F-20A is its 1950s airframe, and its lack of total missiles.
And for now, F-20A’s airframe out-performs F-14A’s.
What does player skill have to do with vehicles being powerful or not?
All your post is doing by citing player skill of <2% of the playerbase is agreeing with the statements I provided.
I just don’t use Thunderskill cause it’s anecdotal and <2% of the playerbase; and the website itself tells me not to use it for anything related to vehicles:
Last sentence.
the f14 has better flight performance and more fox 2 missiles, it also has access to aim54 which in current meta gives you usually atleast 1-2 kills per match for free, at minimum it needs to share the same br as f16a, i dont know why us planes are handheld so much we had the same thing going on when f15a was at 12.3 with the old brs when every other fighter with irccm missiles was 12.7
theres little point in flying low in the current patch, most maps have trees or uneven terrain so you will not get any use of the 60m multipath aside from ocean or flat fields, you can typically see the smoke trail of aim54 before rwr even starts screaming so you can start notching as soon as you confirm its heading for you
regardless f14 is not impossible to kill but simply outclasses most of the enemies it faces and gets a very forgiving br for no good reason, especially since 11.3/11.7/12.0 is the premium black hole which means it sees significantly inferior planes almost every game
