R-33 is Mach 4.5 and 15g, and SARH. Worse than an AIM-54A. You’re thinking of the R-37M.

And the F-14B can bring up to 700 countermeasure in total with the 9Ls

Over the last few weeks, guess how many times I have not been in AIR RB (with a BR 11.3 plane) full uptier along with F-14s? Zero. Fix the fci*g matchmaking or kick the F-14s higher in BR!

These flares are almost useless. Small caliber flares on a plane with 2 hot ass engines.

I don’t know about chaff, I didn’t really notice a difference.

I use BOL %75 as chaff. İt works

You should use the normal countermeasures, standard caliber + 100 BOL as flares, it is more than enough for İR

Yeah, recently I started loading all 60 standard CMs for flares and all BOL for chaff. Didn’t have a chance to use them yet in a real game. I started doing it since like yesterday and have played maybe 1 air rb game and 1 equivalent of air rb game in sim.

So morons keeps saying how to dodge those missles, but not all planes are agile enough to dodge them.

Try playing with SPO-10 or mirages with detecteur

Ask yourself this, does your plane win against a fully loaded Mirage F1, 2000 lbs bombs and all?

If yes you’re fine, if no then does it beat a Tornado?

If yes you’re fine, if no then stop taking prop bombers to late 3rd/ early 4th gen BRs.

What makes you think gaijin won’t drop AA-13 Axehead missiles on the Foxhound to “make it more competitive”, like they did with MiG-29 and R-27ER.

Plus, R-33 is actually capable of being launched in TWS, guided all the way to terminal guidance by datalink; and only then it’d require hard lock.

The MiG-31 can’t carry R-37Ms until the BM model. Also, interesting you would mention the MiG-29s when they were denied their main missile for “balance”…
Finally, the R-33 does need lock for terminal SARH guidance as the datalink isn’t precise enough and the fuze is activated by SARH lock.

Not to mention the pathetic state Su-27SM/J-11A and 29SMT are in right now, and not getting any changes

People who never played 29 at release don’t know this, since they rush to ER now, but 27R is on 7E2 levels

R-60M and 7E2 equivalent 27R Vs 9L and 7F was not balanced at ALL

IDK about that, in my experience the 27R is pretty comprable to the 7F.
The problem is the MiG-29 is designed as a pure dogfighter and has absolutely shit radar, so when its only good weapons are SARH missiles its pretty awful, like if an F-4 had only rear-aspect IR missiles.

I remember them refusing R-73 on release because it literally didn’t work half the time, alongside being the only IRCCM weapon in the game at that time. AIM-9M code wasn’t finished, so they couldn’t pull that out of the oven before it was fully cooked.

MiG-29 and Su-27 FMs aren’t really part of this discussion, so… /shrug. Trust me mate, I want the Flanker to fly better in game. It’s the one RU jet that interests me the most. But this thread is about the Tomcat and Phoenix.

  1. You’re traveling at M1.55 towards the Phoenixes not managing your closure rate. I recommend hovering around M0.8-1.2 if you know there are threats at high altitude.
  2. You reacted way too late, keep an eye out for early smoke trails and keep a mental note. As soon as your RWR starts going off, its going pitbull meaning its within 16km of you, so if you saw a smoke trail beforehand kind of heading towards you then you know its a Phoenix.
  3. You’re defending at M1.55 you don’t have enough turning radius and pull to actually make the missile overload, slow down to M1.0-1.2 man so you can actually do something.

Its like you wanted to show how bad you are at defending against missiles.
