Bad luck exists.
I’ve had an R-27ET1 get single flared by an F-4S within 0.5 miles head-on. Never had that happen before or after.
Theyre bad if yoyre using them in wrong way.
Currently, HOB shots are one of the best tactics for toptier. Just due of how bad seekers(easy to notch) wt fox3 are.
They’re bad because they’re draggy as hell as well as being paired with the worst top tier radar (the radar fix should make it decent at least now) ingame with a still gimped flight model.

imagine if the f18e was added it would have been definitely 14.3 despite having an even worse FM
If it would be with towed decoys for example - it would be fine

the 9X would likely break the game unless they gimped its seeker. and the AIM-120C is probably way better than the current in game missiles, so it would not be fair. the hornet would be up to like 14.7-15.0 at that rate

It’s not. Remember, gimped flight model. EFT, Rafale, F-16, Gripen, and maybe F-15C (debatable) is a better dogfighter

Anyways to get back on topic, shouldn’t AN/APG-73 be comparable to the APG-70 anyways? If so, F-18C Late can easily survive 14.0 SPAMRAAM meta

Yes, the radar is comparable, but the armament isn’t the issue, its the survivability. Poor speed and turn rate mixed with 60 total small CM launches, makes it kind of struggle. Yes it can notch, yes, you can fly low, but not everyone does that.

radar is like the least thing you have to worry about as long as you’re not an Su-27SM or J-11A
