There is no premium Mig-23BN in War Thunder.
F-5A isn’t premium either.
1/3rd of the F-5As are premium, and it’s designated C.
Service use doesn’t matter: Realism > your demands.

It was probably done for balancing.Giving flares to the mig 23 BN would make it a impossible target to destroy for most jets at that BR.It is faster than most jets at that BR.Giving it flares would cause a BR increase for sure.Since it lacks air to air missile, slightest BR increase would make it useless against most jets.
Thats not true.Mirage users are definitely better than those idiot level 20 F-5C users.
i think what he meant was the F-5C is so easy that with level 20 pilots it will beat level 80 mirage pilots.

The Lightning sights at 9.3 with a 16g all-aspect missile yet the MiG-23BN sits at 9.7 with no forms of missiles to defend itself. Interceptions are a thing and players could easily just dive if that’s actually a issue.
Then why are these people crying for flares?
You are only thinking about air rb.That thing is better than any cas jet at that BR in ground rb.Climb to 15k meters then dive on your enemies then no spaa will be able to destroy you.
I don’t think the F-5C needs its flares removed, I don’t think any aircraft over 10.0 should lack flares. I think part of the F-5C problem is that it is spammed out. Another part is that it retains its energy more than it should. Yes it should retain energy well, but if it can do a 180 and only just lose speed compared to something like a Mig-21 flying in a straight line then there is a problem.
Part of the problem is that Gaijin balanced wholly based on player stats and fails to account for some aircraft being simply better than the competition but due to the fact that they are premium they lose performance due to players. Another issue with the F-5C is that it is effectively immune to missiles due to its cold engines, but these same engines push it to have high energy retention.
A system where you needed to be level 10 for each rank e.g for rank 7 premiums level 70, would lead to drastically different results as players would be more skilled on average. But its pretty much impossible to play a match without there being that 1 level 100 player who can exploit the F-5’s phenomenal performance.
This is just my take and i’m sure some people will have a source that says the F-5C is performing accurately but even if it is, you have to acknowledge that now missiles often do not track through flares, flight performance matters a lot more, of which the F-5 airframe has excellent flight performance AND excellent guns.

Swiss Hunter literally has AGM-65s, Countermeasures and AIM-9Js at 9.3 so no.
It has only 2 AGM 65.It is a sub sonic jet with average air to air missiles.Meanwhile MiG-23 BN is supersonic jet that can carry a decent bomb load.It lacks proper defensive armaments but it doesnt really matter since it is a strike aircraft.
Hunter is a easily target for any spaa in grb but a MiG 23 diving from stratosphere is an another story.
A skilled MiG 23 BN player can easily do significant damage to the enemy team in air rb.It has a fairly decent gun which can get you a few kills in air rb.

It performs almost like the higher BR MiG-27/23s in grb
