F-4EJ Kai needs rebalancing

Tbf if the F4J/S got 9L and the british one went down if it lost HMD then it’d be a lot better

imo it’s a compression issue in general. in an ideal world, f-4ej kai would be 1 br up comapred to f-4s and f-4j, and then the british phantoms would be 1 more br lower. but alas theyre all the same br excluding ej kai

Yeah british phantoms make no sense

Or even better, the Kurnass 2000 being at 12.3

gaijin thinks python 3 is an irccm missile or something lol. seriously, i remember it being the same br as the f-14a when decompression first happened, like what lol

They probably think it’s better than the 9M (Even on the new F5 its after the 9M)

I have no experience with python 3s. Does it has instant activation like R-60M?

Either way, a phantom forced to go close range is brutal.

At least there’s plenty of inexperienced su 33 players.

Kinda yea

what do you mean by instant activation?
if youre talking about pull, it takes longer to pull than aim 9l/m or r60/m.
If you’re talking about proxy, its the same as r60/m, and much shorter than 9l/m

Based on:

aim-9Ls have a 0.4 second guidance delay

Python-3 have a 0.5 second guidance delay

R-60M have a 0.35 secnd guidance delay

So they start pulling a little later than Aim-9Ls, and have the same seeker as the Aim-9L, but pull 10 more Gs and the prox fuse arms in 0.5 seconds instead of 1.8 seconds. Making them far more potent in WVR.

though gaijin treats them wierdly when balancing, and places aircraft with them like the Netz at the same BR as equivalent airframes with IRCCM (most commonly seen in SB)

They can give it AAM-3s but idk how that would affect BR

Would have to be at least 12.7.

No

Just because F-18A is under-BR’d due to 13.0 compression does not mean F-4EJ Kai is bad.

The 13.3 ARH slingers are the main issue for the EJ KAI, although I admit I haven’t played it since before the F/A-18s where added.
There are 2 accepted bug reports for it, one for AIM-7Ms, which would not change much IMO:
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/yVg6kZrEpl7s
And one for AAM-3s, which would probably result in an uptier:

I believe the AAM-4 was first tested on an EJ KAI but that required modifications and I don’t think it should be added to the TT KAI, but could possibly be added as a squadron plane that would be about on par with the F-4 ICE

it was suggested to supply the EJ Kai with it’s operational kit (AAM-3+AIM-7M with BR upgrade to 12.7) however this was rejected due to “balancing reasons”

from my knowledge it was tested but never went anywhere most likely due to not working or having issues that were too much to change. Thus AAM-3 + AIM-7M (the standard kit it operated) would be more sufficient

EJ Kai is no-where near bad, its very solid. Although it would be very nice for it to get an upgrade for the modern environment

especially since we have aircraft like the F-16A OCU for belgium at the ripe BR of 12.7 with 6 IRCCM

Under-BR’d aircraft doesn’t justify more under-BR’d aircraft.

I agree with the start of your post tho.

Agreed, I had the thought that gaijin could essentially copy paste and folder (after standard EJ Kai) the EJ Kai marking it as the “EJ Kai (Late)” at a higher BR however it’ll have the AAM-3 + AIM-7M as a optional alternative.

So its there for those who want it, but if u just wanna grind to those F-15’s then u can just skip it

(also aint this just majestic)

Oh, I agree, I don’t want AAM-4 on the KAI, but I have seen the argument for it before, so I am getting out ahead of it by arguing that if a KAI with AAM-4 is introduced it should be on an event/premium/squadron plane not the TT one
