F-22 Raptor

According to your logic, the media is not correct. But for some reason the same American media are correct

Russia: “Our Su-57s are no not stealth fighters.”
Media companies: “Su-57 is a stealth fighter.”
Russia hasn’t even claimed their aircraft is stealth.
Sukhoi is working on a stealth aircraft, but it’s not Su-57.

Where did the Sukhoi company declare that their plane is not stealth?

The most inconspicuous aircraft in the world is the F-117, everything was sacrificed on it for the sake of Stealth, Neither the F-22, Nor the F-35 nor the Su-57 of their RCS can be lower than the value of the F-117

RCS wise, in frontal aspect, we can guess those values:

F-22: 0.0001 M^2 (Size of a bumblebee)
F-35: 0.005 M^2 (Size of a pebble)
J-20: Around 0.01 M^2
SU-57 (Production) : Around 0.1-0.05 M^2
Rafale: Around 0.1 M^2 (Size of a Sparrow)
EuroFigther: Around 0.5 M^2
Gripen: Around 0.5 M^2
F-18 : 1 M^2 (late) - 3 M^2 (early)
F-16 :1 M^2 (late) - 3 M^2 (early)
Mig-35:1 M^2
Su-35:1 M^2
Mirage 2000: 1.5 M^2
TORNADO: 8 M^2
SU-27: 10-15 M^2
F-15: 15 M^2
F-14: 20-25 M^2

But those values are only usefull in ± 10° off the nose of the aircraft.
Even the stleathiest F-22 is going to be 0.1 or 1 M^2 between 40° and the side.

So the best RCS is only an indication but doesn’t mean that the aircraft has that kind of stleath all aspect. Especialy if the radar lock is from the bottom or the top of the aircraft where the surface area is maximal.

There is also other factor to take into acount :

  • Internal armement since having weapons on the outside is going to make your plane at least 1-2 M^2 on every aspect.

  • Tactical Data-link (sutch as Link 16 or MADL) which are needed in a connected enviroment (already present on most 4.5 gen aircraft). You can fire your ARH missile without having your radar on simply with the contact information from other aircraft.

  • IRST: Radar is not the only way to detect an aircraft and while a F-22 can only be detected 20km away with radar on frontal engagment, it can be detected at over 50km away with IRST. While not as good as radar for long range search over 50km shot are not often taken against maneuvering target with good situational awareness. For example the Pirate IRST for the EuroFigther has 90km range vs subsonic target from the front. The F-22 is lacking in this regard and the US are trying to implement one rn.

  • Modern AESA radar. A good AESA radar has up to 50% more range than its PESA variant. While GAS AESA radar are currently the norm, GAN AESA radar are said to bring over 70% more power and range than their GAS variant.

  • Data-Fusion: Being able to use all your sensor for kinda everything. Able to shoot missile though IRST or RWR is one example of data fusion.

  • Super-Cruise : Being able to be supersonic (> MACH 1) without the use of afterburner. This one is really usefull for combining long range (not too mutch fuel consumtion) and speed. The F-35 is not able to supercruise while all the EUROCANARD can.

  • Super-Maneuvrability: Can be with the use of a powerfull motor (Over 1.0 T/W), thrust vectoring (F-22 (2D) or SU-57 (3D)), or the use of canard (EuroCanard , J-20). Maneuvrability is usefull in dogfigth but also for out-maneuvering missile if fired at their maximum range. The F-35 is not super-maneuvrable since it was more designed as a strike aircraft than figther.

  • Multirole capabilities: While today most aircraft are capable of everything, the F-22 could strike ground target at first. Same for the Eurofigther.

  • Directed-energy weapon: Today none of the aircraft mentionned above execpt the Su-57 that has a DIRCM has any kind of DEW. While they could potentialy be mounted on pods, no integration have been made so far on other airframe.

You’re young then;
I agree that some of those RCS values are obviously guesstimate, but some of those are from the official one.
You didn’t even read the whole thing mate.

I didn’t read any more of this nonsense

This is even more nonsense. They cannot be lower than RCS F-117

Well i’ve read again the info and indeed i’m wrong, the SU-57 does have internal armement.
I’m going to modify my original comment.
It’s not because i’ve made a mistake that you’re supposed to say the whole post is nonsense.
Try to be a bit more constructive next time 👍

F-117 is a large aircraft, and uses different stealth engineering.
It’s entirely possible to be lower than it.

Impossible. Everything was sacrificed on the F-117. And even abandoned the radar.

Why not, the F-117 is a LOT older design that didn’t use computers and thats why it’s design is so “simple” compared to the F-22.
Plus we can expect RAM improvement between the F-22/35 and the F-117.

The shape of the glider is the main source of RSS decline.no RAM coating will help you

You should be recorded in the next sect of witnesses RCS F-22

You do understand that the radar dish is a perfect reflective source right? I makes no sence that the rcs is smaller than the radar dish, and the radome around it has to be transparent to the radars band

Yes the radar dish is indeed a source for a lot of radar reflection.
That’s also why it’s often not pointed straigh forward but sligtly up or down to diminuish the radar return.
If the F-22/ F-35 did have something like a RCS of 0.1 M^2 that would be known and why tf would half the countries around the (occidental) word would try to buy the F-35.

Completely about politics,…

For exemple:
When F-35 did worse trials in finland

Spoiler

Basically, Finland asked to trial a Pair of aircrafts from each Nation in competition.

Everyone sent 2 aircraft and one medium size Transport plane for logistics

Apart USA, sent 4 F-35 aircrafts + 2 C-17 Globemaster (125 tons of goods/ plane) and one KDC-10 for logistics/refuel

2 F-35 never reached Finland, and a 3rd one once arrived in finland, required repairs and never flew during the week of trial.

→ Finland choose F-35 in the end, because they were hoping to:

  • Integrate NATO → done now.
  • Have USA army on their side if any Russian troop were sent in Finland
  • the Price of F-35 have also been cut by 20% in order to sell the aircraft → which in the end, was in favor of Finland Economy

And this exemple is the same for every other European Nation (Germany/Belgium/Swiss/…), outside of Greece and Croatia that have no money to buy enough F-35 to be interesting.

Those 2 countries bought 2nd hand Rafale F.3R.

Stability and payload are the sole sacrifices. Radar was not required for a strike aircraft. Speed would have been a detriment to the IR signature.

F-117 was designed to also bounce the majority of the radar away from the emitter, instead of scatter it in every direction with curved shapes and absorb some with RAM coating like the B-2 and F-35 do. RAM coating advancements have come quite far since the F-117. Even if you don’t believe they have.

The F-117 is archaic compared to the F-22/F-35. It is used as a “partially sltealth” counter air trainer RIGHT NOW in Tonopah. The F-117 is nowhere near the stealthiest aircraft ever, or even flying today.
