F-22 Raptor

Nothing is invisible to radar if you focused on the object hard enough. You don’t have to worry about dropping radar in visualize range combat as that’s not how stealth works.

Stealth works by making it harder to detect you but once locked on its not very useful there are also other ways of spotting stealth vehicles. This is why USA never built a stealth aircraft carrier though they did extensive research into the concept (special radar can pick up the bow waves / wake funny enough you would also need to make all the other ships stealth and you would be seen from space let alone your aircraft including your awacs)

There is also a push to improve optical systems so in theory you could track and find stealth aircraft using that method then use the information to lock your radar. The way to improve a stealth aircraft is range as there is more air in the way with more sky to search.

Most issues with stealth in game is connected to the fact its not simulated right at this time as its complex and we don’t have many stealth aircraft in game that would benefit. When 5th gen is added Gaijin will likely do the rework. This would also need a rework with radar and environment as the environment like clouds would diminish a radars effectiveness a little.

Also is the thick Chinese thing your talking about the J-35 or J-20?

No, I wasnt aware of that information; however, it is now clear that it is a complete fabrication

didn’t say that, just said neither stealth nor reduced-observability is modeled in warthunder

J-20, look how wide that mf is

she is the biggest active stealth fighter out there though B2 might have been tested as a missile truck and its replacement is built to handle that job without issue.

Though the J-50 especially the J-36 is very large.

I know this is off topic so i apologize in advance but is there a F-35 thread?

Yes (at least for F-35A)

How good is the Raptor going to be in ground battles? YF-22 wont have much of a job in that mode but will the Raptor be able to hunt tanks effectively?

depend if it can get the strombreaker or not

How will it designate for it?

launched with gnss.

guided / corrected with MITL system.

so basically has to get close to the battlefield to spot the targets and then designate manually

there might be a problem there with the MITL system, no?

I have to say USA might not be great at everything but they can sure give something a good name sometimes. Stormbreaker is a banger but they got to go back to naming things after demons like the Banshee

what ? no.

you just point in the center of the ground map and launch at a distance.

you will have like 30 sec to chose and find a target untiil impact.

have you tried them in the game ?

Just forgot about how you can designate on the map. But how would the F-22 do MITL without being able to receive video through the cockpit?

But that is… Gbu39? Am I missing something?

like i said, i didnt confirmed.

F-22 has MFDs to view the feed from a GBU-53 in terminal guidance but initial variants required upgrades have Link 16 capabilities to actually communicate with the GBU-53 and send commands to it

Theoretically it could use GBU-53 and send commands for MITL guidance but there is no real concrete evidence proving this capability due to obvious reasons

Pretty sure it’s more than just requiring an MFD to view the feed, no?

Needs an MFD to view and Link 16 to send and receive the data from the weapon

F-22 has both but only after some upgrades in the 2000s
