F-18 vs EF2K

When the F18 comes to game will it be a viable opponent to the EF? Weather its dogfighting or bvr i aim to strike a conversation over these two aircraft and their capabilities in game.

In terms of dogfighting it’s hard to say right now, guess we’ll only be sure when we have at least a dev server FM (even though it doesn’t mean it would be final). As for BVR, the F-18 will have big Amraam loadout and a good radar, but doesn’t quite have the speed to keep up with Eurofighters and F-15E’s.

even if its the early hornets??? Im not entirely sure on the radar part.

I assume we are getting at least an F-18C, so my opinion was based on that pretty much

well, probably it would be on lower BR(it needs to be).
it’s not opponent for Typhoon

F18 IRL can keep up with eurofighter but not for long as you bleed energy quick not as bad as tomact but assumiuing there both clean it should hold okay against it in a dogfight

according to IRL specs from F/A 18As flight manual it can pull 9.4Gs assuming you hit the paddle switch on its flight stick removing the 7.5G limiter allowing it to pull factoring in gaijins 1.5X multipler 14.1G which should allow it to keep up for a while similar to F14 can keep up with planes like mirage 2000 in turning engaugments for first few turns

Eurofighter no diff

from what I know.

F-18C with a large number of AMRAAMs will be very slow and climb fairly poorly. Typhoon will massively outperform it in terms of getting an AMRAAM off first and will have an easier time defending in a BVR fight with both a height and energy advantage.

Radar quality will entirely depend on what radar it gets and what overhauls the Typhoon gets to its radar.

I think with a very light load, the F-18C might and I do need emphasise might be able to one circle a Typhoon and get a burst of canon fire off, but will likely loose any sustained fight without much effort from the Typhoon.

AN/APG-73 since it’s most likely a C

it will be a very skill based fight

So equal to the Blue Vixen then and much weaker than CAPTOR-M if it ever gets modeled

Yep, but with equal skilled pilots. Typhoon should win

Isn’t the 65 closer to blue vixen than 73?

From what I read, it was considered on-par with the AN/APG-70 series of radars.

I have a very hard time believing that.

More proof is needed before you can say it’s on par with the radar on a strike eagle (which is severely nerfed in-game)

If it’s saying on par in software sure, but on par in power and detection ranges?

Mostly mixed articles here and there:

The Blue Vixen (ARI 50019) radar for the second-generation BAe Sea Harrier was regarded by many as being a better fighter radar than the contemporary AN/APG-73 used by later F/A-18 Hornets. Famously, when it was first used on operations in Bosnia, there were claims that it had picked up contacts that could not be detected by AWACS. - Source

Australia also nearly considered the Blue Vixen for its F-18Cs over the AN/APG-73 as it was equal and a lot cheaper but the intergration costs would have been too high

my question is how is the mirage 2000s one circle performance compared to eurofighter
