i didnt check statshark myself, but didnt a youtuber show its turn radius being tighter than rafale?
rafale is not that great at slow speeds, can pull AoA but the turn rate at those speeds is not the best
yeah it more or less behaves like a gripen with a snaller turn radius and more AoA
rafale will beat the f16xl in the dogfight if the pilot isnt a toddler, thats not what im saying. the rafale has insane acceleration, and close coupled canards that give it nice control, its a slow speed fighter.
i think the snapshot turn rate is tighter than the rafale where it turns the best (800-500kmh, i think?)
The gripen might even have a faster turn at slow speeds IIRC, despite the slightly larger radius limit

The best dogfighters I have flown are the F-2A and the MiG-29KR, the F-16XL is up there
its a p59a of 13.0 lmfao. good energy retention and tight turn radius, but try going vertical with it. its engine won’t carry it like rafale’s m88’s do. i’m not so sure why i’m discussing the dogfight between a 14.7 and a 13.0, but i think f16xl turns tighter than the rafale
well dosent matter too much if the difference isnt too big since you can just stay inside the gripens turn circle and it wont be able to pull lead on you
unless it starts gaining speed but you are able to capitalize on that in the 16xl
completely off topic of the main f16xl, but how do you dogfight in the 29kr? i don’t have the f2a idk, but i’m kinda curious about the 29kr. its russian, i’m assuming its a one circle fighter, how do you fight in that thing? i think it outrates the j10a.
If you go vertical on it, you get a shower of lead (or a fox3 if you get distant). If both start at around the same energy state, that is.
Kinda irrelevant because micas will make the rafale undefeated anyway, and it is 14.7 so it won’t see the F-16XL even if it gets to 13.3

From 12.7 to 13.0 to 13.3 are massive jumps in performance, those brackets are extremelly compressed. Never mind the poor 12.0’s

honestly i think it beats anything thats at its br. mirage 2000, 27sm, mig 29’s j10a’s. (guns only df, m2k has maws, tons of countermeasures and mica’s.) i don’t think theres a thrust vectoring jet that can see the f16xl which is the only way you win the one circle against it

It does not, its about on par with all other delta wings unless you are totally fine with loosing a boatload of altitude during your turn.
Its oddly enough very close to the F-106 in turning ability.
