In close dogfight? Sure. Hell, 18A would beat them if used right
But in BVR? I dunno. Su-27 would have slight edge in BVR due to better missiles (R-27ERs).
True 1v1s where it boils down to BFM are pretty rare in normal ARB.
(The chance to get third-partied is also greatly increased. You’re busy gunning someone down and Mirage F1 fires the Magic 2.)
And if your enemy has more than two braincells to know that if you bog the Hornet down to crawl, he has basically won the fight already
Most players change their fuel amount depending on afterburning fuel consumption.
I have mine set to 7 minutes, though I’ve heard players set them anywhere from 4 minutes to 12 minutes.
If you let your F-18 get slow to begin with, you’ve failed in maneuvering correctly.
Especially with a meta sustained turn rate.
I don’t use that enhanced fuel thingy
I run 75%, if I recall correctly
By the time I get to center of map, long way around, I have about 12 mins of fuel which gives me optimal turn rate with 4x AIM-7 and 2x AIM-9
F-111F is a strike plane anyway, it doesn’t really matter in an uptier. Situational kills from other people’s mistakes are on the menu, but it’s not that it wouldn’t be underdog anyway.
Phantom F.3 …well , in 12.3 uptier again you are outgunned.
They will still meet it if it was 12.7 anyway…
The problem is the compression in general. You can’t think many planes to not have a problem in uptiers…even in the slightest uptier.
