On the Su-24M the full cockpit display is replicated on the third person HUD and all of the features are displayed. Signal strength, threat type and elevation are all shown.
Is this the type of antenna you’re referring to?
I found some more photos of F-16A too
The ADF transitioned to dual blade antennas, while the space under the intake was occupied by a four blade antenna just like a bird slicer.
I believe so. I took a close up of the antenna some time ago, it’s the box like assembly behind the VHF antenna.
It’s also visible on the in-game model. I believe this thing is called the ALR-64 compass sail. The A-10 uses it as well, it sits somewhere at the rear I think.
Anyways, if you can find proof that the ALR-69 with dual blade antenna (so on F-16A ADF), then it likely means the F-16C with the same configuration with ALR-56M should as well. Though the similarity with APR-39 and the brochure’s working for the C/D dual blade seem pretty compelling already to me.
But it’s still not really conclusive to me. The Navy’s ALR-67 for instance still requires an antenna array of similar size to the compass sail for C/D DF, so I’m not sure how the AF does it with a much smaller dual blade (though perhaps it can to some extent, but how does it know if the signal comes from the front or back with just 2). Also the fact they still call it an omni directional antenna, like on the F-15, may indicate that it has no DF. I have similarly found in the past that only the quadrant receivers ever get mentioned with DF abilities.
So yeah, if you can maybe find info on the F-16 ADF’s situation (sources may be easier, since it’s older), then it may be somewhat conclusive.
Hello there @WaretaGarasu @Gunjob
I just made some changes to my reports
They have been there for days
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/9SlVTxINGbUl
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/Fj5VhFQDCI1G
Could you please check them out?
It would be brilliant if they are forwarded!
AAQ-33 Sniper ATP is added to F-2A, will F-16 get it too?
BUFFs for F16
no. Nobody besides Japan gets Sniper. Bullshit update. Cannot even give American equipment to America
probably not just like how most US planes are missing LJDAM
Or GBU’s with GNSS capabilities.
Would a Dutch F-16 with a parapack and rwr be allowed if i can ask?
This will help the F-16 by making the GBU-39 not have a 10m CEP ingame

@CalvinAz Gaijin struck down my ALR-46 rwr bug report
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/gaR9FJbYn14M
Even the ALR-46 on the F-4E has C/D band coverage so idk if it uses a dual blade antenna or what but that other source you gave me shows that it can detect and identify missile guidance in the C/D band.
I guess we will have to wait for a later block F-4E or something. Though I have looked through a bunch of F-4E pictures, and I can’t really find where the compass sail is. At least not in front I guess, maybe in the center or rear, which you usually can’t see very well. But since it mentions the compass sail, it’s not going to be the dual blade and it probably looks similar to the one on the F-16A, F-111 or A-10.
The A-10A flight manual also mentions some things about the compass sail. But it’s mostly the same as what is mentioned already.
The problem is that the F-4E in game has the DMAS exclusive weapon, the GBU-15V-1. So I dunno where they are getting at by calling it a 1972 E model.
Yeah that’s true, I think internal reports already exist to get that fixed though.
The 1972 thing is I think a bit of a miscommunication. I think what they mean, as is evident in some other reports, that the intended aircraft is a pre 71-237, block 48, (as we have no TISEO) serial F-4E, which itself was delivered in 1972. So the aircraft we have in game is a a 1972 or earlier produced model, which means we can still get any retrofits made later, just not any that were exclusive to 71-237+ aircraft (like Pave Tack, DMAS, GBU-15).
Though for some reason in the F-4E weapons delivery manual, 69-7562, block 45 (what we have IIRC), and up are listed as F-4E DMAS, though in the F-4E flight manual (dated later) only mentions 71-237, block 48, and up. So idk what’s up with that. I guess later dated one overrides the older one.
ok so Should I re submit the bug report again? because the RWR refit isnt specified for a certain F-4E model?
If you have clear proof that the upgrade was made to ALL F-4Es, yeah. Gaijin seems to think the upgrade was only for DMAS F-4E, I guess. If it has been fitted to all F-4Es it should follow the same logic as the ALE-40 (CM dispensers) for instance, which only happened in 1977 for all F-4Es.
Hypothetically speaking would this be a nerf for the F-4E?
If the F-4E was brought back to an actual 1972 spec? YES it would be.
I’m just surprised Gaijin hasn’t added a DMAS/TISEO F-4E, honestly…
Anyway, back to F-16 posting: Here are some camo schemes I wish Gaijin added for the F-16A Block 10 in the US TT…
(The following would technically be semi-historical since they’re either FSDs or Block 1 airframes, but it’d be more historical than a lot of skins in game…)
(This last skin would deffo be semi-historical since it’s on a YF-16, but Gaijin’s added stuff like that before)
