F-15EX Dev Discussion Thread

Su-35 is just Su-30SM2 with slightly diff airframe

We already know how it’ll be

Its so much better already
Notching while DL
US jet can never do that 🤧

doctrine…

USA will always be screwed by shitty gimbal limits

Doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to give balancing a second middle finger and give people more than 12 Fox-3s

Correct me if im wrong but they don’t prioritize gimble limits due to in reality they would have 360 degree coverage via AWACS

That’s part of the reason. The other half is the fact that the U.S. Air Force has fatter squadrons of planes that watch each others back than what other countries have, while also having tons of other squadrons flooding an air sector in a higher concentration than what any other country would have. No need for gimbal when there is already so many planes watching the same sky at the same time on top of AWACS. It’s almost a perfect blend between quality and quantity.

I mean EGBU-24 vs GBU-50 (and to a lesser extent the GBU-31s if you don’t care about SAL). All of them are just copypastes.

Yes. L-16 is one hell of a drug.

Also the fact our newest missiles such as Aim-120D has the 2 way datalink that allows it to switch the DL source on the fly so despite a F-16 on the front firing the missile a F-35 far in the back or even AWACS might be whats actually guiding it in

Its unfortunately a tactic that gaijin has not modelled period (although datalink mechanics in general are really poor)

i wonder if the irst can datalink amraams

AWACS does not have a solid enough track to be capable of that in majority of instances, as far as I’m aware. Obviously new tech may be different.

F-15’s, typically. F-15s sit out back and throwing missiles at supersonic speeds and 40k+ ft altitude. Has been done fairly extensively, known as the eagle wall.

LEGION21 has rangefinding capability publicly disclosed, so possibly.

Didn’t they outright say an F-15C used legion to guide an AMRAAM? And F18 IRST DOT&E page says it can autonomously support AIM-120 guidance

Then yes it can, thanks.

Can someone get me a screenshot of the F-15I & F-15IA inverted with a top down view of the belly please? Going to bug report the incorrect CM implementation and see if it sticks.
e.g

I was just using those aircraft as an example of the 2 way datalink
Its even more famous for the superhornet since the Aim-174 has more range than the aircrafts radar is capable of

That can just be ship to fighter or fighter to fighter

Okay? that doesnt really change what i said Both a F-16 and F-35 are fighters
A superhornet is also a fighter
My original statement just used those 2 aircraft as an example not whether those aircraft are used in that role IRL

Reported the incorrect CMs

due to the AMRAAM’s ability to lock targets in a relatively large area (as seen in game by locking your teammates who are halfway across your screen to the enemy you launch at) I don’t think the slow update rate would be an issue.

Yes, just would prove difficult to fire on merge groups.
