Is there any word about it’s TGP or is it keeping the LANTRIN?
There was a few accepted bug reports about it getting the sniper or litening, so I would probably expect that to be changed
Was just confused by why you were using the GR4s mk103 engines to justify why the Tornado Gr1 cant get it’s historically accurate Mk103 engines within the context of the F15E getting it’s historical engines after a similar nerf was applied to it for the sake of balance.
If F-15E gets its historically accurate engines, then so should others, such as the tornado Gr1 which is stuck with mk101 engines for 100% “balancing decision”
I had submitted a bug report about the 65Ls range 2 days into last updates dev server. They still are not changed.
I said in a different thread that because there’s so many accepted bug reports for the F-15E/I that they might just fix them all at once in the live server update, or maybe even the last dev server update
This is not about historical accuracy.
Its “historical” for the Tornado GR.1 to have the 101s and 103s as it is for the F-15E to have the 220 or 229. This decision was not a historical one. In both cases, either option is suitable for the aircraft. Engine choices are not linked to weaponry loadouts.
In the case of Tornado GR.1, Tornado GR.4, its upgrade was always planned to come with the better Mk 103 engines.

But I’m not 100% sure ofc, I’d be pretty upset if we got stuck with the lantirn pod but it isn’t nearly as bad as being stuck with 220 engines
True the 229s are the most important. I am also not expecting a sniper pod. That was denied when asked for the 10C. But a litening would be nice.

Yea the fov for the lantirn is really sub par, I’d hope for at least a litening ii, especially since it’s a 13.7 attacker
All 5 tornado IDS (on Germany and Italy) at 11.3 or 11.7 have better engines than the Gr1. Even those that were supposed to be “early” versions without precision weapons which were late in the Gr1 life cycle. By which point it 100% would have Mk103s.
TIALD should also be modeled as Gen 2 not Gen1
Gr1 has slightly better unguided bombs but also sits at a higher BR than 50% of them. The difference is minimal and the nerf is quite badly felt in most situations.
It’s not that bad, it gets gen 2 thermals for some reason compared to the gen 1 when on the F-14B. F-15E seems to have gotten a thermal upgrade on their Lantirns with the “LANTIRN ER”, so probably the pod should be renamed. Only thing Litening II would bring is better zoom levels in-game wise though as how it’s now.
Of course getting a better Litening variant or Sniper would of course be great too.

It makes me wonder if when the F-18 comes if they will give it the Nite hawk tgp instead of one of the more advanced options.
How big of a difference do those engines make?
Yea my issue isn’t with the thermals since it got gen 2, but with the fov and zoom of the pod
Significant, by a large margin.

Enough, you can feel it in the acceleration and top speed. the GR4 on the dev server feels a lot quicker compared to my experience in the Gr1.
