All you just said is bs, i been playing competitively searching for the meta for tournaments, and the Su-27 was the absoulte top dog of Air RB.
Nice contradiction
Surely things like this is my problem

Tell me how is that a missile being able to do this in today´s battles is not dominance when there was no FOX-3, 57km kill
40km launch with a 7F lmao. Yeah I call that not understanding launch parameters at all.
I did not contradict myself btw. Nobody was climbing, which is why I went to 10km with the F15A. Because I had nobody to shoot me down or even LOOK at me.
It will be far better than a gripen fym, it had a higher TWR, more AoA, better rate, if anything it will be a J-10 with more thrust, which is already a menace
The point of that was to show the 7F’s erratic nature. Here’s another one.
4 7Fs decided to not track in that engagement.
???
You take off from an airfield mate. In every map you can just follow the ground and stay at multipathing height. It’s harder NOW because the MP has been reduced to 60m, but with the old 100m height it was incredibly easy to just negate any SARH. And with HMD on almost all top tier aircrafts you didn’t even need to turn your nose to launch a 9M.
Calling the R73 dominant is absolutely laughable.
40km is outside the effective range of the missile. It’s not erratic, the missile simply failed to track. It’s naive to expect otherwise.
The second example is more legit, tho with all the missiles going hard right I suspect it’s due to the sidelobe of the radar getting a high radar return somehow (there’s a furball happening below you). It’s an issue with sidelobes being waaaay too strong in WT more than an issue with the missiles. I had this kind of behaviours with R530D and R27ER too. It is annoying when that happen, for sure.
But I had way more kills using the 7F/7M than I had bizarre failed launch. I would know ffs, I spammed the F4EJ Kai, the 15A and the 16ADF for an entire patch (edit : after multipath reduction, F15A was mostly scoring with 9M before that). Most of my kills were with the sparrows.
I have more battles with my Su-27 than the F-15s. It only happened like once or twice.
I honestly would blame the radar more than the missile. It happens relatively often to the R530D as well. I wonder if it’s because the US radar is more powerful than the soviets or something like that. It’s definitely an issue with sidelobe in general : the missile sees something it shouldn’t and go for it instead of the target in front of you.
But I routinely scores 20km launch with the EJ Kai’s 7F and they work very well with the F16 radar in general. If anything the biggest problem of the 7F is how easy it is to dodge kinematically at shorter range. It’s a missile that works best between 12 and 20km in general.
When did this thread go from strike eagle discussion to R-27/AIM-7 discussion.
That engagement was at 13 km.
The point where someone said the “ER was decent”. Then it just kind of devolved from there.
I felt dirty all day yesterday dumpstering the new $80 Viggen in the F-15. Like it’s not even close to fair.
What, you cant get kills with the 7F if its not in front of you?
(Sorry for quality, but its a 1 min video compresed to 4mb)
Thats a 47km kill with a 7F
That poor J37Di is honestly a joke. It’s a plane that already struggle at 12.0, and giving it Aim120 and slapping it at 13.0 is just hilarious.
I tried it in Test Flight. It’s just so sad. The RWR is so bad that launching an Aim120 in pitbull range triggers your own RWR lmao.
It has zero upgrade. No HMD. TWS has a pathetic range and gimbal. RWR is already outdated in 11.3. Flight model is a brick. You need to bring several tons of fuel because the afterburner guzzle it like it’s an F14A, but is has half the acceleration.
The ICE eat it for breakfast. The TORNADO LATE eat it for breakfast. Compared to the JF-17 it’s even more sad.
A Viggen can see F-15E in the same match. This should tell you the state of top tier right now. But Gaijin will say “there’s not enough players, decompressing will make finding matches longer” or something.
Effective launch range of the 7F/7M is 30km maximum and that’s on a plane flying straight to bomb a base. Congrats on scoring a 47km kill on a bot, but it’s not the norm and you shouldn’t expect consistent results with those launch parameters. It’s even outside your own radar recommended parameter. (the bar on the side)
It’s ridiculous to act surprised that you missile fail to track at ranges it’s not made for.
He’s not exaggerating. He is precisely describing the pre-fox3 meta. Everyone just facerolled into the merge because LMAO 100m multipathing and then flung fox-2s at each other in a big chaotic furball. The amount of revisionism on this site is unreal.
Multipathing change is one of the few changes that I agree with now. Now you can’t just fly in a straight line down low and actually have to notch incoming radar missiles, which imo adds way more variety to how high tier air plays out.
The Fox 2 meta was horrible. While the current top tier balance is bad (mostly because one plane is dominating), I absolutely do NOT want to go back to the IRCCM mudfight. That was the dumbest top tier meta we had for a long while. I enjoy a lot more the current high altitude joust even in my Mig29SMT.
Just give us some decompression Snailjin.
