F-15C Golden Eagle should be able to hold more missiles

Dude I was blissfully unaware for ages of just how bad it was, then I had a friend ask me if the F-15E HUD showing 92M was right… sent me down a rabbit hole. The F-15C HUD is TERRIBLE, so much worse than the Es.

Hey smin, since the F-15C GE is getting its IRST pod, is there any chance of the F-15J(M) getting its IRST pod now?

What pod does jm use again?

i might be wrong but cant f15jm get an aesa too in the future?

It had a domestic one for testing the type III IRST device later featured on that F-15J(M) with internal IRST.

Would be best to report if (if one is not already up). It can be considered when the time comes.

can the irst pod provide initial launch data for the aim120s?

How would that work ingame?

Likely would just let you fire in IRST and the datalink would work like usual

It is way more funny when it shows 74M when you have 4 sparrows equipped

Wouldn’t datalink nullify the whole point of using irst? Can the irst provide datalink as well?

F-15 with R-74M confirmed

the IRST provides the datalink too yes

Datalink is just radio connection to the missile with targeting info
If that targeting info can come from the optical pod (optical tracker for angle, laser rangefinder for range info?), then it would work

Some more modern IRST systems do not need a laser. The Pirate for example can get ranges without lasing, it seems that the legion likely can as well since I see no mention of one.

In brochure we have this, sooo… If passive also means “passive ranging”

Yeah, should mean no laser. Since laser would be considered active

I’ve never really delved into irst tech so I was not aware they could get so much information, I need to research more

Hey there, is the EPAWSS of any priority?
