Not worth it dude
I mean it’s good, it holds more missiles than most at the same BR and you get a lot of 13,3 and below
Stock experience was godawful, and Gaijin, for some ungodly reason made you carry amrums on wing pylons, limiting your use of sidewinders, but once you get trough that - it is indeed extremely capable aircraft. Also getting back to mech radars made me realise how good ESA actually is compared to that.

correct me if i’m wrong, but isn’t 4 of the dispencers on 3D model of F-15 feature large calibre countermeasures?
They do, and the F-15 should have the variant to choose between small, medium and large countermeasures, but gaijob
Well, i can see why they can’t be arsed with introducing modular CM dispencers, even tho it would be a neat mechanic, but ngl, i would prefer 120 single pop large CMs over 240 double pop small ones.
Although at least F-15E could be given this ability, since its dispencers are a part of custom loadouts in the game. At least the choice between Large/Small calibre per station would be nice.
It’s not though, it’d be BOL(ALE-52), Standard(M206), large(MJU-7) and extra large(MJU-10) if things were properly modeled
Provided by the ALE-58 & MJU-11(30 units), -12(15 units) & -17(6 units) magazines for the ALE-40 respectively.
I get it, but in War Thunder we only have large, small and BOL. So at least ability to pick between 30 small or 15 large per dispencer would be nice
we also got normal size CMs inbetween large and small
Really? What uses them?
Basically every US plane
You got me confused, i thought US planes use small ones. Okay, then what uses small ones?
i though small and regular was the same its just people use it interchangeably to describe the same type
Yeah, i probably mislabeled them because it’s just more subconsciously fitting to differentiate them as small/large than regular/large. At least to me
BOL CMs are small ones
large CM next to small/ bol one

normal CM next to bol one

Ok, so it is the matter of just nomenclature, got it
It’s completely divorced from their IRL performance, too. At least for now it’s just a gaming convention. Which really does need to be revised.
For example the performance of the MJU-7/B should be different across both bandgaps, and needs to be more tapered (early bias)than it is currently. Also there’s no obvious units that the performance corresponds to either.
i mean that basically how the game does it as well
there are 3 different CM types ingame
Large Countermeasures
![]()
(Normal) Countermeasures
![]()
BOL Countermeasures
![]()
and with BOL CMs visually being the smallest it makes sense to me calling them small CMs
i dont really care about such miniscule details when it comes to “realism”. Games should be “realistic enough” imo, beyond that it’s just complexity for the sake of complexity and nothing else. My aim was to just give player option between big amount of regular countermeasures or reduced amount of large calibre countermeasures. Less experienced players that are way more careless with their CM usage might drift towards regular ones, while for someone more experienced picking large ones would prove much more useful. Making every single countermeasure type between nations to have unique properties isn’t something worth development time and effort in my opinion.
Fine by me, i just used BOL/Small/Large instead of Small/Regular/Large nomenclature. Will try to use the one in-game to avoid confusion next time
how do i not run out of energy while notching at altitude in the F-15
