F-15 Eagle: History, Performance & Discussion

It’s a nice buff ! Don’t think it will make it that good or 14.3 worthy, a welcome change nonetheless

After almost 1 whole year, the Rafale FINALLY gets competition on one of its dominating aspects.

Less of a big deal for RB, but for sim, this change is massive.

Rafale still violates the F-15C GE in 100% of fights though. I’d say this does make the F-15C GE 14.3 worthy, the issue is that the Rafale Fe3R as currently modelled is 15.3 worthy, so any BR balancing with the Rafale at 14.3 just doesn’t work cuz its massively under tiered.

If you compare it to the other 14.3’s:
vs EFT: Vastly superior radar, vastly superior CM load, worse FM
vs Su-30SM: Vastly superior radar, vastly superior CM load, superior FM, inferior missiles and missile load

Looks a lot more balanced.

doesnt it still have ghosting issues though?

that is an issue with all esa radars rn apparently, so i dont see how changes to the search areas would change that

What exactly was buffed?

I LITERALLY put the comparison in the graph

My bad didn’t see it

Hope Gaijin introduce the FM fix ASAP
the 15C feels stiff all the time

does anyone else feel like the AMRAAMs got even easier to evade (both sides)

Then ask US to make better SARH or something. F-15 doesn’t deserve special treatment just because “Sparrow bad”.

yeah, “half the planes” sounds much more appealing than 2 when you are trying to manipulate circumstances in your favour. And it would’ve work if every single game only had 14.3s in both teams.

you conveniently ignored the point about how its questionable if the radar can even guide sparrows

yes,

im pretty sure I saw an su30 out pull one launched high alt at like mach 1.5 at 15km range earlier today

Isn’t it the same radar but with AESA dish replacing planar array?

They, did. It’s just that Gaijin is yet to actually implement the multitude filters that would make it better (also propagating the AIM-7P to other airframes would nice). or model HPBW properly so it actually falls off like it should instead of as a cone.

Could also stand to implement the auxiliary modes of operation too, refine the altitude based autopilot as well as systems like the ASX-1, ALR-23, AXX-1 and asorted targeting pods w/ A2A modes.

Prototype systems like the ATAR (similar to Yak-141’s IRST, but was actually flight tested on an F-101B, see below) and LEGION would also be a nice to have for the F-15 too.

Also the inability to track chaff would be “nice

Is there any other missile in this game that is modelled to such an extent to warrant this for a Sparrow?

The Sidewinder (family), R-73, Magic-2 All get access to little touches that make them unique, especially considering the sheer number of additional mechanics and constant revisions that they have received since they were implemented.

It just so happens that we have a ton of detail for the Sparrow due to its age, and the fact that it is effectively obsolete.

So does the Sparrow family. There is a significant difference between something like E, E-2, F and P. Every single one of them behaves uniquely and has aformentioned “touches” And unlike R-73 those “touches” actually make them better instead of warranting a flatspin at low speed HOBS. Can’t say much on Magic 2 since i never used them in-game.

Most of the issues issues raised could either be achieved by an adjustment to existing values / hardcoded tables or flipping a Boolean.

This is an issue with the fact that a simple PID controller, such as the universal missile controller implemented by Gaijin, straight up can’t be tuned for too broad a mapping, which is why this occurs.

You are trying to switch the topic. I said that Sparrows aren’t neglected in this game. Funnily enough it is Skyflash that is neglected because one of the main unique features (inverse monopulse seeker) of a Skyflash was just simply modelled for every single Sparrow

The skyflash has a better seeker than the AIM-7E-2, a much better seeker actually, so no it was not neglected. The game just doesnt model the exact difference between a con-scan seeker and an inv-monopulse one.
