The devs need to keep some buff juice for the Rafale, since its clearly suffering and needs to be even better
Interesting folk are still claiming EPAWSS has a MAWS, when neither the BAE Systems page nor the brochure mention anything of the sort.
Yeah people try to mix them together when the MAWS is an add on option
The only F15s with EPAWSS and MAWs in service is the F-15SA which uses the same MAWs as the AH-64E
Given its not mentioned at all as part of EPAWSS, I’d hazard a guess its just a separate installation. To say its a part of EPAWSS would be misleading, rather it would be EPAWSS and CMWS.
If I recall correctly isn’t the F-15SA fit with DEWS not EPAWSS as well. So that CMWS installation has nothing to do with EPAWSS?

Reporting from the Aviationist;
Yeah MAWS and EPAWSS are unrelated
Must of confused the F15SA having EPAWSS with a different F15
They installed the MAWS on the first F-15EX for testing, but then withdrew because the F-15EX is now only for ANG, and for gaining air superiority, the UV MAWS is bad.
Point I’m making is the conflation of EPAWSS and CMWS as a combined system when they are separate. Smin has been pinged a few times over EPAWSS and its mythical MAWS.
I’d say folk are continuously mixing up EPAWSS, DEWS and CMWS. And what is part of what.
Yes, in general, MAWS is a separate part. Maybe it also has a name, but in the documents it is CMWS. The F-15SG is neither an advanced eagle, it doesn’t even seem to have DEWS, but it does have MAWS.
Well, I still understood the questions about the US F-15EX, but not about the F-15C, which does not even have mounts.
It would be cool to get EPAWSS for the sake of spherical RWR, but this is already at the discretion of the developers
CMWS (Common Missile Warning System) is BAE Systems name for their AN/AAR-57 MAWS. Which can be integrated with a number of systems, on Tornado GR4 its integrated with the AN/ALQ-213(V) EWMU which links it with the other onboard systems.
Agreed on that front, I do like fancy RWR’s.
Ik. On the F-15EX, everything is most likely done through ADCP II. Well, we’ll see what the US Air Force decides when it comes to aircraft not specifically for the ANG. Maybe they’ll bring back the AAR-57, or maybe they’ll install 2CAWS or ATW.
Didn’t know 2CAWS had a nice range boost over CMWS;

It’s dual color IR, so it already peak.
It can detect PBO missiles, it can calculate range, which UV can’t do, so… It more useful for aircrafts. Ah, and IR can work as defensive IRST. But I don’t think that they’ll install so advanced sensors.
While the Chinese IR system does not appear to be very advanced, it can warn of approaching aircraft. So…
Where does it say that? Cuz I checked the 2CAWS page and its datasheet, and neither indicate its ability to do so as far as I can tell
This is more of a feature of the technology than of a specific system. It calculates TTI better than UV, but for obvious reasons worse than radar.
Riiight, so its not actually a stated feature of 2CAWS, its just a possible feature of IR MAWS in general.
Not sure why you’d try to pass it off as a feature of the system then if you dont have any actual evidence stating it to be a feature of said system…
I didn’t write that this is a feature of 2CAWS. I was writing specifically about the IR. Whether it’s implemented in software or not is a huge question.
In game I think PAWS-2 should it have.
The way you phrased it very much made it seem you were saying 2CAWS had ranging capabilities.
