F-15 Eagle: History, Performance & Discussion

You are trying to switch the topic. I said that Sparrows aren’t neglected in this game. Funnily enough it is Skyflash that is neglected because one of the main unique features (inverse monopulse seeker) of a Skyflash was just simply modelled for every single Sparrow

The skyflash has a better seeker than the AIM-7E-2, a much better seeker actually, so no it was not neglected. The game just doesnt model the exact difference between a con-scan seeker and an inv-monopulse one.

Is it? I haven’t noticed difference (used E-2 on F-14 and Skyflash on a Tornado). Both worked pretty reliable.

Yes, so in the future maybe dont claim stuff if you havent bothered checking.

AIM-7E-2 vs Skyflash

  • Almost 4x the track rate
  • Angle gating for better chaff rejection
  • Better range
  • Smaller beamwidth
  • Smaller notch

Damn ngl theyve felt basically the exact same for me, never really noticed the differences.

Nah, i’m good. But thanks for the provided information. I wish that it would actually make a difference during gameplay.

the seeker difference isnt that noticeable, but the proxy fuse is

its a lot harder to roll a skyflash than a sparrow

That’s not intended, have you done a bit report?
Did the same with the F-15J(M) and they fixed it quite fast

Do any of the Israeli f15s get aesa radar

15I and 15IA will get it at some point

The radar is good but also feels super buggy at the same time.

I’ve had a lot of ghost targets, targets straight up dissapearing when flying towards me and even TWS locks flying across my screen.

Yeah that is a bug added to all ESA radars this update

How amazing

It’s so damn annoying, played sim top tier in the su-30 for the first time in months just to find out all esa radars stink currently. Quite annoying. Amazing how gaijin somehow breaks something each update

Just remove the F-15C Golden Eagle. It is such a pain to fly in this thing…

For some reason, I think the Golden Eagle’s AESA radar is broken in WT. In TWS mode, it periodically loses contacts even when they’re flying straight at you from 40 km away, even if the target is strobed (they go out for 1-2 seconds and appear again). Is this the case for everyone, or is it just me?

All ESAs are broken rn

It’s almost impressive how often they manage to break an already existing mechanic that they barely changed anything about.

Like how even?

Well… Strange. Too sensitive radar. But it’s cool.

Demo version of F-15EX literally.

theres little on it, but there is no reason to assume it perfoms as poor as it does, gaijin didnt nerf it based on any sources, if those sources existed we would be “ah sh#t i guess we’re screwed”, the only reason the missile was nerfed was cause it had the longest range and still very good maneuvearability, which in an envirment where people were absolutely terrible made it extremely dominant, gaijin thought slightly fixing the range would counterbalance it but after people figures fox 3s out range became completely irrelevant.

aim120c5 is even more annoying imo as gaijin just assumed crap because of a 40mm difference in fin size, disregarding a decade of improvements in virtually everything else, so an artificially nerfed missile got further artificially nerfed again making it even less usefull, its pretty absurd how bad the aim120c5 is at turning, the aim120c is worse sub 20km in a straight line sure, but what people dont say generally is that if youre playing the game right(firing from notches) the missile is even less effective at those range as it takes 16 business days to get into intercept path.

when it comes to numbers the kind of capability we need in warthunder for a missile to be meta, is in real life essentially useless. like the only reason we have reputable numbers for the r77 is the collapse of the soviet union, whilst r-77-1 inherits that + the very unconventional rosoboronexport site which lists general perfomance data, which as i said is pretty much only done by russia afaik.

i dont think its even that its super classfied, it is classified but its more likely that its just not much of a concern. irl they dont notch missile, they try to bleed them and/or jam them with ecm and they sure as hell dont do it from 10 kilometers away.

like the kind of combat we do in this game is likely comical to real life pilots.
