The whole assembly spinning is known as a rolling airframe missile. That is similar to the igla or stinger.
Oh ok gotcha like the RIM-116 too
Alright, with the Sedjil and Fakour-90 receiving major buffs, what BR do we think Gaijin is gonna bump it to? I’m betting 12.7, or at least 13.0 with upgraded heatseekers.
I think it’s still not on live yet.
From the datamines seems like they changed Fakour to the correct 20 g / 22 deg, but changed Sedjil to 20 g / 16.27 deg, even though the document is literally for I-Hawk which is what the Sedjil essentially is.
Perhaps they are still experimenting with it …
Either way thanks for finding the document.
I never said it was. There was no update to live so why would anyone assume that?
Lmao
No problem.
I heard the IRIAF F-14A had access to the AIM-7E-4, that being a AIM-7E-2 with the seeker/receiver of the AIM-7F/M (either one not sure which one). Is this true and does anyone have any information on this?
Oh yeah and does anyone know the difference the Fater would serve in-game over the already existing AIM-9P-3?
Some theorized to be similar to AIM-9P4
They finally modeled dual plane or just buffed FinAoA?
They buffed fin AoA, dual plane doesn’t need to be modeled. They can simply make all missiles pull the maximum G that they would have been capable of in real life if they had combined plane and it would work the same way.
The only time it would matter that they are oriented a certain way is if they are bank-to-turn where they can only pitch in one direction.
E4 wouldnt change a thing from current E2 (in game)

AIM-7E-4 was essentially an AIM-7E-2 modified to become compatible with Tomcat’s radar (though by some accounts, Sparrow, even the later F and M models, never really worked well with Tomcat’s radar)
Iranians didn’t have AIM-7E-4, as they were essentially waiting for AIM-7F, thus, when the revolution happened and relations with the US soured, the only missile that the Iranian Tomcats could carry was the AIM-54.
Later, AIM-7E-2s that Iranians had in service with the F-4E were modified to be made compatible with Tomcat’s radar.
Fater 1 is almost definitely just refurbished AIM-9J, probably replacing some components with domestic / more modern components, e.g. replacing the electronics with solid state ones. Performance shouldn’t be much different from AIM-9J.
There is no info on Fater 2.
All in all, seems like the project was not developed much further (than refurbishing existing missiles) and instead, PL-7 from China and R-73 from Russia were procured. (PL-7 only being used on J-7 and ex-Iraqi Mirage F1s that escaped to Iran during US invasion of Iraq)
And of course the Azarakhsh missile which is based on the AIM-9J body but it has an IIR seeker, smokeless motor and does not have rollerons on the rear fins. But there is only evidence of it being carried on drones:
AIM-7E-4 was essentially an AIM-7E-2 modified to become compatible with Tomcat’s radar
If originally the AIM-7E-2 was never compatible with the AWG-9 then why does the American F-14A have access to it or did they also modify it like the Iranians? And didn’t Iran receive a small quantity of AIM-7Fs for their Tomcats as well?
I feel like the IRIAF F-14A is missing some stuff like possibly the AIM-7F or other things idk
Should be AIM-7E-4, but since they are functionally the same, the devs just gave it AIM-7E-2.
Only one secondary source says so.
Aim-7F and Aim-9Ls were ordered by the Shah but were canceled after the Iranian revolution.
I also found this article (dated November 26, 2021) from Hamshahri:
Shahid Babaei project
In 2008, the Vice President of Iran Air Force Operations published the F14 upgrade roadmap until 2020. Air Force Self-Sufficiency Jihad and Industrial Research was tasked to provide the required systems, technology and spare parts with all civilian contractors.
Work began on the ready-made F-4 Phantom hangar at Mehrabad Airport, and after 36 months of work, it made a 30-minute test flight on January 18, 2012. Further flight tests were carried out and in April 2012 it was delivered to the 82nd Tactical Squadron.
A number of F-14s were equipped with domestic radar, and the rest were completely upgraded with the same old radar, the fully optimized AN/AWG-9, the old radar used weak processor and was completely updated; Also, the old electronic parts, especially the parts related to the AN/AWG-9 radar and the parts related to the weapons system have been replaced with lighter and faster parts, as well as the AN/ALQ-100 electronic warfare system by replacing the antenna, processor, analyzer and preamplification system with parts It has been updated and the entire fighter’s wiring has been replaced and the 1st and 8th stations have been reinforced to add the ability to carry the MIM-23C or R-73E. In addition, an internal navigation system, UHF/VHF radio system and some other parts have been installed. Flight electronics have undergone major changes.
Next, capability of carrying bombs has been added to this fighter. The fire control system of the fighter was optimized and the new inertial navigation system and the RWR radar warning system were upgraded. The body has been completely X-rayed and all the problems of the body have been fixed. The engines have been optimized and its previous problems have been fixed; And finally, this fighter is equipped with new air-to-air missiles, such as Fakour-90, Vympel R-73, Vympel R-27.
In 2013, three more planes were delivered to the 82nd squadron. They are now serving as a Quick Response Alert (QRA) at the base. In September 2014, the overhaul center of the 8th Shekhari base delivered another sample. According to the Air Force’s current plan, a fleet of 62 F14s will remain in service until 2030.
You’d probably need another secondary source for the addition of the R-73E, the information on the AWG-9 domestic replacement and upgrades is a bit foggy - we’d need more precise information on exactly what it was replaced/upgraded with to get it added in-game.
The addition of the R-73E however will surely warrant a BR increase to 12.7
I’d be surprised if the fakour/sedjeel buffs don’t put it at 12.7
If they give the f-14 6 x f90s then I say it could go to 13.0.
