Iran never got AIM-9L
Offtopic
I think you and DocUSMC have like a secret cult of trolling people who do much as dare to correct obviously false statements about the US.
If you want to continue this discussion let’s take it the the PMs
Oh goodie. Hope you have fun with that. Anyways @Pacifica you can do your thingy. Also clean up our little discussion here we were very off topic lol

And yes… Off topic… Weirdness and secret cult of trolling people comments removed…
Back on Topic… Thanks!
I am saying that in-game it cannot mount AIM-54 on the wing pylon, not that it shouldn’t be able to.
Iranian F-14 would be justified to have AIM-9L added to it. There is precedence here.
I have not yet seen any photos of Iranian F-14 with AIM-54 under the wings.
But then again, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be able to mount them, unless the fire control system was intentionally downgraded/limited to only 4 Phoenix missiles. Which I have not seen any indication for anywhere.
@MiG_23M One possibility would be that they didn’t buy the Phoenix adapter for the wing pylons and then after the revolution / start of Iran-Iraq war, didn’t bother to make one (like they did for Sedjeel and Fakour) either, since Phoenix stock was limited and it didn’t make sense to mount 6 on a single aircraft.
Would make sense for the F-14AM to receive AIM-9Ls or 9Ms sense Japan doesn’t actually operate the F-16A
They literally used it for the Fakour launches and there are pictures of them with the pylon. The Iranian Tomcats should be able to mount AIM-54 and Fakour on the wing pylons.
I don’t think it’s safe to assume that Fakour and AIM-54 use the same adapter / mounting system.
I did bug report the Fakour (for under wing pylons) and they just said “forwarded as suggestion”.
Which I think means it’s somewhat of an intentional balancing choice at this point …

LAU-93 Adapter for AIM-54 Missile
A better example would be the German Mig-29G never having used the R-27ER, and the country of Germany never having ordered the R-27ER, but it was given the R-27ER in-game because the Russian Mig-29 version used R-27ER.
They say forwarded as suggestion for all historical reports, aka reports that aren’t anything to do with game glitches/bugs.
OK, seems like LAU-93 adapter was bought and used. And there would no reason to buy and mount the adapter unless you were going to mount AIM-54s on the wing pylons.
Made a report here:
Iranian F-14A missing AIM-54 for the under-wing pylons:

The there any information on the RWR on the IRIAF F-14A and if it was upgraded at all or not? Seems odd they wouldn’t whilst introducing more capable missiles like the Fakour and Fater.
Them having the same primitive an/alr-45 from the early 70s when they put the funds and resources to develop new missiles like the Fakour for it well into the 2010s is hard for me to believe. I guess it’s just easier for balance to make it as close as possible as the tech tree F-14A.
True true.
