F-14 Tomcat: History, Performance & Discussion

Just to let everyone know: The F-14B is still underperforming in thrust and overperforming in weight. This leaves the F-14B at a TWR of 1.25, which is ~0.15 less than it should be (~1.4 TWR)

Compared to the 30,200lb 2x figure in real life it’s missing 400lbs of thrust

It’s unreportable because Gaijin doesn’t actually show us the weight of aircraft in-game, which means we have to look in the files for it. Bug Reports based on information from the files are prohibited… Nice Gaijin.

Cant you set mass by debug tool?
You can try to make aircraft “empty” with it and after that report

Idk. I’m nowhere near my PC to try it out and I’ve never used the debug tool before.

the type of bugs devs fix instead of giving f14b 9m:

How would they even notice that? I guess they are just that detail oriented.

Ok, this time for real, I really hope I fixed whatever the issue was with the previous report

[DEV]The F-14B should be impacted by this change to IRST/EOTS

[DEV]The F-14B was missed when adding IRST/EOTS - SARH guidance

There is no source for TCS in An Outsider’s view of the AIM-54 Phoenix/AWG-9 Weapons System; the page is excerpted from another book.

Thanks for what you do. I don’t know if you hear that enough.

Don’t thank me yet, wait until it’s actually implemented (and has it’s independent search and track features) on the live server first, please.

At least a lot of the documentation found is reusable for the TISEO (since the relevant “-34-1” is out of reach, iykyk) so all the extra effort isn’t wasted. I’ll get around to refactoring the others (ATFLIR done, AAQ-28(V)4 next) once I’m out the other side of Cyclone Albert.

And anyway it’s mostly the Techmod’s that do all the hard work of actually making things presentable and wrangling the devs, to achieve outcomes. I can’t take even the majority of the credit As a lot of work goes on behind the scenes.

If only the F-14A had the ALR-23 IRSTS so it could also receive the same features, it should also serve as a good buff for the F-14B as well considering how it seems to struggle.

Interesting loadouts on F-14D and SEALED AIM-54s.

This photo explain they no longer needs external coolant from station 3and 6 pylons.

I’m trying to gather evidence for the F-14 to get the AoA limiter disabler. Does anyone know where this picture came from?

Most likely F-14 manual.
But im not even sure from which year it is

Wait isn’t the manual export restricted?!

I don’t know about A model but, NAVAIR 01-F14AAP-1B from 2001 is still classified (Distribution Statement C)

It can be, since thats kinda late tomcat.
Honestly dont remember any F-14 manuals with maneuver flaps till 2000s

Does the the '72 preliminary flight manual reference them?

It’s probably worth a re-report due to new mechanics.

F-14 No control over wing slats!

PDF pg#142 references the high lift system

Maybe, but i might be confusing it with auto-flaps then

Are there any NATOPS F-14 flight manuals(A model or B model) that doesn’t impose export restrictions?

I was trying to find NAVAIR 01-F14AAA-1 from 1995(changed in Feb, 1997) but, they are
classified as Distribution Statement C.

Nope. F-14A’s is classified because of the Iranians and the F-14D’s is classified because of it’s IRST.

Big F
