F14D stock grind has given me AIDs
Either players have got better or the pheonix C+ miss more than the A’s
Hard to tell as iv only got 2 but cant they be buffed to somewhere near fakours?
Its hard to believe they where this bad IRL

besides the lack of performance of the missile in some situations, war thunder maps doesnt suit well the 54s, F-14s arent the most performant airframe out there, so to get to good launch parameters takes time, and by this time you’ll be too close to the enemy fighters
I didnt get F-14D yet, the radar feels good? Like F-15E’s?
Thats discouraging, might not crew it then once the research is complete
Radar is good but its meh at the same time tbh (personally) since it’s held back by the radar missiles kinda like the f2A ADTW
Hopefully we can get aim7p-2 soon
It’s REALLY good.
It feels like AN/APG-70 with AWG-9 search zones.
Which, knowing Gaijin, it probably is.
What on earth is causing this aircraft’s TWS to fail to maintain enemy tracks? Its scan period is on the slow side, but 2.0 sec isn’t absurdly slow. Its notch angle and main beam notch width are comparable to those of other aircraft. I just don’t understand.
TWS+ has basically ruined radars with long scan periods, like the CAPTOR-M. But the AN/APG-71’s update rate isn’t actually that slow. What the hell is going on?

Its mainly due to their speed and acceleration in most scenarios. F90 gives people much less time to react so time-to-notch is much shorter giving them better probability of kill over Phoenixes. In simulation battles tho AIM-54C can really stretch its legs with F-14D’s radar.
Are you saying that even a radar with short-term memory loss that loses DL if this enemy changes course even slightly can guiding in SB?
It seems to me that the problems with the APG-71 are reducing the F-14D’s combat effectiveness more than the problems with the AIM-54. What I mean is, the APG-71 forgets which enemy it was tracking if they shift slightly to the side and change direction, even if they were visible just a moment ago. I’m 90% sure this is a problem caused by TWS+ (same as with the old CAPTOR-M and PS-05), but does nobody else think this is an issue? If you don’t know how to check whether there’s a data link, just say so. The circle at the end of the line extending from the missile doesn’t indicate a data link.
I’m saying that in sim you dont have missile markers and can actually get a room for your missile to hit targets at range with proper launch conditions too. You can also select specific targets instead of fighting the horde.
Also I’m not experiencing the issues you described
Seriously? Even the test-flight easy to recreate.

Its a hard sell when i already have the 14a/b experted
ATM i cant even go high as iv got to make it back down to MP as no chaff
Bombing loadout doesnt even detroy 1 base
Every kill iv had apart from 1 has been with guns.
Honestly worst stock grind other than the mirage 12.7- i actually GE’d a bunch of mirage mods …before i lost my mind
F14D is very underwhelming to say the least. Hope the C+ are better when i can actually lauch from good alt… but i suspect not
Thanks for finding a non-classified source that shows the F-14 AMRAAM firings weren’t simple ignition and separation tests. I’ve been sitting on export restricted docs for a while now.
I wonder how in good faith they’re going to deny that report. I think they’ll have to fall back on arbitrary bs rulings like they’ve done in the past, although again this is a great report. Nice job.
Well considering the AIM-54 had the highest hitrate (93% for the C and ~84% for the A) of any modern radar AtA missile (that we know of), it’s pretty obvious they weren’t this bad in real life either. I mean Iran got 70+1 kills with them and 3+1 of those were with a single missile. This is the most successful radar guided air to air missile in history we’re talking about when it comes to doing it’s job as a missile.
and that was when used against planes with bad avionics like the Mirage 3 or Mig-23
there is a reason why the US wasnt able to replicate that at all even with more modern phoenix variants
Bigger USAF role in conflicts and AIM-7 were used more often
all phoenixes that were used failed in desert storm
I guess that’s what happens when you’re first of a kind in multiple categories?
Except they did… ACEVAL restricted the use of the AIM-54 during it because it “wasn’t fair” for the Eagles and F-5s. Why restrict it if the missile is bad? Also, US is the one who did the testing. They know how good the missile was. Why try to rewrite history, especially in this thread?
This also happens on top tier aesa/pesa radars. idk why, something to do with ghost targets
and then that is supposed to prove how great the Aim-54 is even compared to more modern missiles?
or when used against more modern avionic suites
