F-14 Tomcat: History, Performance & Discussion

At the least, They increased max altitude on some maps in dev server.

You won’t reach that altitude in the f14 and interceptor spawns aren’t in top tier and if you do you would be slow with other jets that can get their more easily and like I said stt and lofting won’t be added any time soon because supposedly it would be bais

All this text is pointless.

all you need to know is that Gaijin gave R-27R with datalink to F-14A Iriaf.

Which is removable from the game…

I have several documents related to the F-14A and F-14A(IR), but the only reason preventing me from posting bug reports is the “special” export control.

The required items are the technical documentation for the APU-470 and R-27R, and NAVAIR 01-F14AAA-1A, which contains detailed descriptions regarding the AWG-9.

However, -1A manual and every Iranian F-14A manuals has this mentions at title page.

Not only…
their quality in realism atm is ace combat .
There are many things in game that shouldn’t be like that.
They just think…what someone will buy and just release it.
If enough people ask it, they will bring ST21 as a tech tree vehicle because -but a replica existed…

No they won’t, all vehicles in game have a prototype built and not just a static mockup witch the st21 had a static mockup but no st21 prototype was built

It’s no where near ace combat levels you doin to much…also list vehicles and game mechanics that are ace combat levels other than arcade

So? They got to make money somehow what you think the world we live in is free

My whole post is an irony to what GJ does…
It’s not ace combat , yes… But they do MANY bs.
About ST21, yeah … let me not trust GJ with this , really.

Dude they removed the panther 88, tiger 105 and like few tanks from Japan for this same reason they ain’t gonna go back to add a st21 you just complaining about something they resolved already

I already told you i’m being ironic over BS they have done.
Yes i’m complaining about the crappy balance game has all over the place and that they add wrong things in wrong vehicles… many times , not one.
And prototypes …doesn’t really mean they used and launched and tested armament (not all of them) .
But in game you buy them ^full extra^ !
And no they shouldn’t give us ST21, that’s not my point. That’s irony.

Here we have people talking about if 14D should have 120s.
The answer is … no. Never fielded them anyway. It went to war…without them.
Can GJ add them, given what they have done already? Yes , they have done way worse . It’s more realistic than other things…

And so the F14D will come with AIM120As, or else

Otherwise we’ll apply the same logic as they did with the AH64E and their L-DIRCMs :)

25 years ago. Should be fine

Because it should get them AMRAAMs fit where the aim7 goes and the apg71 can launch and guide them and if doesn’t get them it’s just gonna be a f14B (some even say the f14B should get aim7p and 9m)at higher br where aim7p are gonna be stock weapons and aim54c eccm will just be a bit harder to notch but most planes at 13.3-13.7 will still not have a difficult time evading it their rwr will still detect it coming also no f-14a/f14B was gonna get araams in real life only the f14D and if that one f14A testbed does ever come it would be placed right next to the f14A iraf if not higher because even with the tf30 the airframe/flight performance will absolutely own down tiers at 13.0 fighting 12.0-12.7 not to mention it having apg71 no bol pods the only reason a f14A was used for a testbed it’s because it what was mostly easily accessible compared to the f14B/f14D and it’s the same airframe where no modifications was need to be done for the f14 to fit araams (as it was literally designed to fit where the aim7 go)to it airframe and it did use mil-std-1553/mil-std-1760

Ehh no.

I asked to Pentagon and Navy back then. They told me they are already unclassified but, still under of export control.

Blame Islamic regime in Iran.

Your timeline is completely impossible. That photo is from 1981. The F-14B (F-14A+) and D model didn’t arrive until late 1980s. They didn’t “choose” the A over the B/D because “it was easier to access.” They used the A because the B and D literally did not exist yet. Unless the engineers had a time machine, the A was the only option available in 1981.

Fitting physically ≠ System integration.

Standard fleet F-14A and B models(until 1995) did not have the MIL-STD-1553 bus. Regarding the testbed (BuNo 158625), it is not even confirmed if it actually received a proper MIL-STD-1553 bus integration. It is highly likely they just used a custom, jury-rigged interface box solely to fire the missile for that specific test. You are confusing a one-off, possibly “hacked-together” science project with a standardized fleet capability. A stock F-14s cannot fire an AMRAAM just because it fits in the sparrow well.

Also, that aircraft was designated as an NF-14A, not a standard F-14A. The “N” prefix indicates a permanent special test modification, meaning it was structurally or systematically altered to the point where it could not be returned to normal fleet service. It was a flying laboratory, not a combat-capable F-14A.

Not exactly. But the Intrepid has their “Super Tomcat” from Grumman that was based on the ST21. It’s technically the only real “Super Tomcat” until the F-14D was retconned into that name.

You got your hands on the -1A manual?
