F-14 Tomcat: History, Performance & Discussion

When I get back to War Thunder first thing ima get is the Mirage 4000 and kill all the idiots who try to dogfight me with phoenixes still strapped on :)

Phoenix seeker time is reduced from 200 to 100 seconds… Weird. If it can only guide for 100s then the time to target is wrong for high altitude test.

Its the seeker aquisition time, while it is on the rails.

That makes more sense.

Does anybody have a source for the HAWK missile g limit ?
either MIM-23A or MIM-23B
Right now Sedjil and Faqur 90 are both have 15g limit which is really low for a missile that entered service in 1970s

Hawk is 15G, the Fakour should likely be inferior to the Phoenix based on the weight & cg

That being said, Phoenix should be 24G and Fakour should be similar. 15G is too low.

Fakour will be best long range missile, beating everything in range and time to target at high alt. Manouverability is shit however, as expected. Pulls 10 Gs max at sea level while in constant turning.

Is the F-14A in game missing the thermal camera on the nose?

No, the 1977 modification that we have in-game did not have the camera at the time.

thats a bummer

F-14A 80’s mod equipped AAX-1 TCS

Thats not the ting I posted

@oom1992 the F-14A got a thermal camera before the TCS. The thermal camera it got is like the one on the F-8E

I meant the thermal pod, not the TCS camera

It was still an option, as listed in the relevant '77 SAC.

So exactly what F-14A “early” do we have in game?

Only in the initial outline, not listed in electronics section or shown in any subsequent drawings or pictures.
