F-14 Tomcat: History, Performance & Discussion

Would be cool to get them if that’s true. But for now most of the time it’s gonna be a head-on launch in most of the situations, especially in ARB. And AWG9 works decently well in this case.

besides the 9km acm

Oh yeah, still find it weird that Tomcat was left with it. Probably as karma for years of domination at top tier or something like that.

Hope someone reports F-14s missing some HUD/VDI functions.

It’s neat to see that an IRST/ TCS contact is actually repeated on the VDI, but not the HUD or HSI for the pilot.

Do we know if there is similar symbology for the TID, to display a IR / TV contact?

My -1 manual is from 1975 that is before F-14s getting TCS.

There are some mention about IRSTs but, all of them are just test stuffs.

Most things are included to -1A manual.

Probably, they can model critical warnings as MAWS?

Not all of it, It’ll certainly help the potential case for the ALR-23, since it includes the various modes, and in concert with the flowchart for the TCS helps make things more accurate, as many of the systems for the TCS were ported from existing IRSTS implementations.

I really can’t believe we’re still waiting after all this time, maybe when the F-14D turns up it might have the combined AXX-1 / AAS-42 subsystem.

I mean… These descriptions in the -1 manual are for the pilot/RIO to inspect various sensors during a cold start.

MiG-25 got leaked today. It’s an event vehicle.

If you don’t have the F-14s Talisman’d, now is the time.

I doubt that PD with no flares will meet any tomcat.

Some PD had same CM pods with MiG-23/MiG-27 iirc

They better pray it doesnt. Although I find it hard to believe it’ll be lower than the ML.

it will still a advantage over the f14 in, first climb, first shoot situation, f14 barely can keep mach 1 at 20* climb.

Engine heat only at high speed, 2.8 or more where ot start melting, bring full fuel, its no like we have 300km maps in the game

It will have kinda not so good engine performance out of designed altitude

We have to wait to know the variant

Even the F-14A can sustain Mach 1 in a 35 degree climb at Mach 1 to around 6000 meters. I do it all the time.

The advantage in first climb-first shoot will be nullified by the much worse missiles. If anything it makes the MiG-25 an insanely easy target for the Phoenix to consistently hit. The R-40D has around a 40-60km effective range. The Phoenix can easily do 100km plus against a high closure rate target like the MiG-25.

Maps are like 40km at 12.7

I’m pretty sure they’re 125x125 and you spawn 100km away from each other…
