I love how Gajin let us test fly the F-106A long before it was playable, yet proceeded to label “accepted” on every single F-106A bug report, but not fix a single one.
It seems like the F-106 VNE (1460 KMH) is copy pasted from the early Mirages and Kfirs. Did they do that because the wing design is similar?
AIM-4F is equally as bad, maybe worse cuz it doesnt turn at all until like 2-4 second passed after launch and the thrust and turning is abysmal
Probably
I mean they are literally the same plane overall
Just with different stuff on it making it worse/better by a small amount from each other
I believe they set the VNE at just above 750 knots or mach 2 because that’s the value quoted in the pilot´s manual, while failing to observe that limit was set to prevent hotshot pilots from reducing the lifespan of their very expensive jets. In the actual plane, rather than the plane exploding at mach 2.12, going over mach 2 just turns a light (nonfunctional in the ingame cockpit) warning that the fuselage temperature is now warm enough that G limits have to be reduced, and might raise the compressor inlet temperature beyond the limits accepted for continuous operation, but it’s not immediately fatal. The airframe has a mach 2,5 limit because it’s made out of aluminium and can’t take much more heat (srt-71 is titanium and mig-25/31 is steel), while the engine starts suffering internal damage at full throttle beyond mach 2.2; the F-106 aircraft that set the speed record for an average of mach 2.31 (starting both runs at around mach 2,2 and ending at mach 2,4) used a standard engine and had no issues in flight, but the post run inspection concluded that the engine was shot and needed to be overhauled (so it should show red engine temperature warnings for sustained operation at that speed, but otherwise not be an issue in warthunder).
The wing design per say has nothing to do with the maximum speed limit allowed by the aircraft, although the mirage III clearly took heavy inspiration from the F-102 and F-106 designs as it practically uses an 0,7 scale wing platform of the later complete with the longitudinal leading edge slots.

They are close enough to be comparable, but there should be enough fine details between them (wing twist, camber, cg, length, area ruling, thrust characteristics, etc) that means they shouldn’t scale of each other exactly.
