Intro:
To make the Infantry mode truly tactical, we need more specialized helicopters. Infantry needs transport, medevac, and close air support. Here is my list of 5 essential helicopters for each major nation that are currently missing or needed for better balance.
1. USSR / Russia
- Mi-8AMTSh (Terminator): The ultimate transport-assault helicopter. Can carry a full squad and has rockets/cannons for support.
- Mi-26 (Halo): The giant. Can deploy multiple squads or even light vehicles directly onto the battlefield.
- Ka-60 Kasatka: A sleek, medium transport helicopter for rapid insertion of recon teams.
- Mi-24K: A specialized reconnaissance and artillery spotting version of the Hind.
- Ka-27PS: A search-and-rescue version, perfect for the “Medevac” mechanics I suggested earlier.
2. USA
- MH-60L Direct Action Penetrator (DAP): A Black Hawk turned into a gunship. Can carry troops AND heavy weapons.
- CH-47 Chinook: The iconic twin-rotor heavy lifter. Essential for moving large groups of infantry.
- MH-6 Little Bird (Armed version): Perfect for “Ready or Not” style fast drops on rooftops in urban maps.
- AH-1Z Viper (Early production): To bridge the gap in the tech tree with specific infantry-support optics.
- V-22 Osprey: Technically a tiltrotor, but it would change the game with its speed and vertical landing.
3. Germany
- NH90 TTH: The modern standard for European troop transport. Very fast and agile.
- CH-53G Stallion: A massive transport helicopter for heavy lifting and large squad deployments.
- EC135 (Armed): A light, quiet helicopter for scouting and light fire support in city maps.
- Tiger HAD: An upgraded version of the Tiger with better protection for low-altitude infantry support.
- UH-1D (with MG3 door guns): A classic Huey, but specifically tailored for German infantry support missions.
4. Great Britain
- Westland Puma HC.Mk 1: A reliable medium transport for tactical troop movements.
- AgustaWestland AW101 (Merlin): A large, modern transport that can survive heavy ground fire.
- Westland Gazelle (with Snatch Land Rover transport capability): For light recon and fast deployment.
- Lynx AH.7 (TOW upgrade): To provide anti-tank cover for advancing infantry squads.
- Westland Sea King HC4: The “Junglie” — a rugged transport for amphibious and forest operations.
Disclaimer:
I am not a member of the Gaijin development team. These ideas are purely based on my personal experience in the Infantry CBT and my passion for tactical shooters like Ready or Not and Squad. My goal is to provide constructive feedback and suggest ways to improve the game’s atmosphere and mechanics. All suggestions are subject to balance and technical feasibility as determined by the developers.
