Oh yea, that’s what I do, just hide the TADS and TELs in cover and place ammo crates down waiting for enemies to have a false sense of security to fly close and then unload lol
I prefer to place my TELs right next to my TADS in the place with the most sky view possible while still being protected from enemy ground forces.
Idk how you guys do it but especially when I launch form the the radar vehicle my launchers dont elevate enough and the missile tends to just slam into the ground a lot.
Why does the radar do whatever it’s attempting to do? Why can’t it register a helicopter out in the open but track planes from behind a mountain.
It’s the most bizarre radar i’ve ever used.
Mixed load of IR and ARH missiles.
LOAL for IR missiles.
LOAL for IR missiles when radar is off.
Scope and seeker alignment.
Radar operation.
Since the seeker lock range exceeds the flight range of ARH missiles, UTDC is virtually meaningless.
Textures and modeling for the missile nozzle and proximity fuse.
The last two aren’t major issues, but these are the ones that come to mind.
Since it’s not a vertical launch, please don’t make the seeker a slave.
Unless these issues are resolved, tan sam will become meaningless.
I guess you mean datalink for IR missile (which also allow LOAL mode) in first point
While without radar datalink don’t work and IR missile just launches via LOAL mode without additional guidance support
Also I would add the correction of TV seeker which is now just a stupid copy of Strela’s photocontrast and because of it Strela’s mode even better because smaller FoV.
TV seeker should track targets when target is flying against the background of sky but some ground came to the seeker (now you can lock target only if seeker doesn’t see any ground) and maybe it can track targets while it fly against the background of stones but there isn’t direct proof for it
Post update, yet again, the Tan-SAM can no longer maddog the ARH missiles . . .
HUH why? Bug or intentionally removed?
intentionally removed, not mentioned in changelog
at this point they should just remove it from the game altogether because every single thing about this pos is wrong or broken lol
you can put the thing down to 11.0 and it would still struggle
Type 81 (C) ARH Missile - Missing launch without lock // Gaijin.net // Issues
They did atleast accept the issue (again), so hopefully it’s fixed soon. Doesn’t help that everything else on the system is still broken.
Getting closer and closer to that 1 year mark when it was introduced. This is frustrating me.
@Stona_WT @Smin1080p_WT Can you have the team make this a priority or something? The literal title of the Dev Blog for the Tan-SAM is “Maddog” and you’ve even written:
but the Tan-SAM kai is different! This is because the launcher vehicles can operate autonomously, without target designation from the radar vehicle — when the radar vehicle is destroyed or the radar has been turned off, then target designation for the ARH missiles is no longer possible. Despite this, you can still try to launch missiles towards a target in the hopes that the enemy will fall into the locking area of the homing head, as the Tan-SAM kai possess the “Maddog” ARH missile launch mode!
A bit insane that the one saving grace of this SPAA (given everything else wrong with it) has been taken away TWICE now.
Month and a half and they still haven’t fixed this, outrageous.
ahh bro they really don’t want to manage this issue at all; they have time to release new ussr spaa but no time to fix this bug and type 03 It is also a very big problem; he is simply not suitable for all maps.
I’m a bit out of the loop what’s wrong with Type 03?
- Can’t engage an approaching target within 5km
- Can’t engage literally anything within 3km
- Can’t hit helicopters
- Can’t hit anything that multipaths
- Can’t hit munitions
- Incredibly visible and vertical smoke trail
Isn’t that because it lacks thrust vectoring?
The missiles fire way up and have a almost top down approach or stay at higher altitude if the target is farther out of course that would mean it can’t handle close range targets.
Yes, but with how people pilot aircraft at 12.7, that means you will likely only get one (1) chance to shoot them down on their approach before they dive to the ground and you won’t see them again until they’re too close.
Let me put it directly: Type 03 is not as good as Tan Sam Kai in every aspect. It not only lacks a way to attack helicopters, but also has no countermeasures against aircraft within 5 kilometers. Remember, it is a 12.7 SPAA. Among vehicles of the same class, no one is worse than it. If you can be hit by Type 03, then you really are not suited to play top-tier.
