Well, as in Goethe’s Faust Part I, “Two souls, alas, exist in my breast”: Absolutely love the addition of the MIRO, being really a “Mirage-child” that grew up literally amongst Mirages!
But I’m completely disappointed and heartbroken about how it is implemented: The fact that they chose to do the post-upgrade model but give it pre-upgrade weaponry is absolutely incomprehensible to me - and I will continue to fight that as best as I can!
We could have had it all: pre upgrade silver Mirage with AIM-9B and AIM-9E (as we have now), with no canards, etc., plus the post-upgrade variant with canards and defense improvements (as we have now), and - most importantly - the advanced missiles.
But, alas, they gave us the Frankenmirage instead, thus effectively making any future addition of another Swiss Mirage completely impossible.
Unless of course they decide to reconsider their choice, give the Mirage III C.70 their proper weaponry and lift it up in BR…
GJ moved the Mig23 in the tree and made the Hunter Mk58A mandatory for research. I researched the Mig23 for nothing. Waste of time and effort. On top of this, now i need to research the hunter i don’t want.
I had the misfortune of attending a school in Westphalia, so I’ve never read Goethe - but I feel the same way. Well, almost. I’m torn wether I’d support adding the full extent of the Mirage’s weaponry, because I fear that it’s airframe could simply not keep up at a Br of 11.3 or up.
What Gaijin did with the IIIS ingame right now is something I’m honestly fine with, yet I wouldn’t oppose or protest if it received the AIM-9P-5 either, as long as we get an early version, like you suggested
Man I don’t understand why the hell you would want aim 9p5s on this thing, it would make it genuinely unplayable in terms of stock grind in terms of the br its at, and even after its spades it would be horrendous. If I recall correctly, it never had aim 9p4 s (it had training versions of those missiles I think, not the actual missile) so I think it would be fine if it got aim 9p3s and moved up .4 br. Keep in mind I mostly care about game balance though, not really historical acccuracy
The page of the pilot manual you posted on the droptank report are the “Aufhängepunkte für Außenlasten” listed. Everything is there but the AS-30 (and the bombs, idk why the bombs are in game)
Could be - the implication kinda fit’s my assumption on the whole armament issue quite well too… (´・_・`)
Not having the NORAS insofar is correct as they later were not used anymore, and thus in the 1987 manual are not mentioned anymore. But then neither are the bombs, and that they put on the SAMP bombs is completely unrealistic.
I really don’t know, if it is lack of knowledge or actually intentional, what they did to the MIRO and Tiger…
But the IIIS has FALCO missiles, which are superior to the Matra R530, and it gets more of them, and it has better maneuverability due to its canards, and it has a better RWR
Like due to the fact that we only get AIM-9E on the 3S instead of the AIM9P which we should have. TARAN-18 isn’t working correctly I am afraid to say. When the lock is good and you shoot shoot, on the real thing a X shows. The process is bugged too
The differences aren’t enough to warrant a BR change to face 9.3s. 9Es aren’t great, sure. However the IIIS has a much stronger RWR than the Mirage Detecteur on the 3E, and the radar performance is similar enough
