Everything wrong with the Mirage IIIS

Rejected - Not a bug

From the snippets of the source it sounds like CCRP, but as the mod says they need more info…

on a sidenote: from what I saw is that the Mirage should have a lead indicator for the Falcon missiles

Yes, saw it, but I don’t agree with the argumentation.

I’ll try to work something out, and explain better. The screenshots of the manual the tech mod attached for me for example already prove that also the guns have EEGS.

I’ll collect more info and open up a new bug report, also regarding CCRP…

Btw, talked to my dad yesterday who was radar specialist in the Swiss Air Force in the seventies. He was mainly working on the Bristol BL-64 Bloodhound SAM, but also a bit on the TARAN, and he also says the TARAN was not a PD radar.

As to when PD radars became a thing for fighter aircraft, one finds notes of the Kfir and Phantom II as first examples, with only about 1974 as year where the fighter-borne PD radars became practicable and operational -so quite a bit after the Mirage III got the TARAN…

Still looking desperately for volume 2 of the MIRO’s pilot manual, which covers the whole TARAN system in detail…

Something that puzzles me is why the moderator brought up EEGS. I never mentioned anything relating to EEGS in the report.

You didn’t explicitly, yes, only ballistic computer for guns in general.

What puzzles me is that the reference the mod brought is as proof against ballistic computer actually confirms or at least implies a kind of EEGS for the guns:

image

Darstellung der Steuerbefehle = Display of controlls commands
Vorhalte Verfolgung = Lead tracking
Radarschirm und Zielgerät = Radar screen and sight

…so the system should be able to compute lead for the canons and display it on both radar screen and in the sight…

Thats OK. I found a section that does mostlikely confirm monopulse.

Typical GJ denials. But the document from 1969, confirmed in varios sections that the Mirage IIIS was the first aircraft in Europe to have a ballistic a/g computer. And its is written very clearly that the system tells the pilot when to push the trigger for weapon release and that the impact point of the bomb is calculated automatically.

In other words it has CCRP (Das auslösen erfolgt automatisch, same. Balistic computer calculates the time of the release) and CCIP (“optische Signals”, means nothing else).

where is it in the tech tree

In the German bomber line

Nice camos.

They look better than the official ones

idk what Gaijins problem is to just not make it that the panels are showing

Thanks!

I always strive to get as close to The Real Thing as possible.

Absolutely love that one:

If it wasn’t for the “stabilizer malfunction” and wrong Sidewinder, this one could almost pass as real photo…

The default skins in WT usually look way more dirtier and gritty than the original aircraft with lots of little or not so little errors.

Already downloaded the first camo, waiting for uptade to drop :)

Update tomorrow and the datamine just hit:

  • JATO (slot 3 and 7, same as the Falson slots)
  • Centerline Fuel tank (880 liters) (slot 5)
  • changes in the SEPR 844 rocket booster (gun can now be equipped with the booster)
  • added an optional conformal fuel tank (slot 6, instead of gun?)
  • Removed the AS-30 Nord (the LB 66)
  • Removed the wrong underwing fueltanks

I don’t know why they removed the AS-30. The Mirage could carry it irl.

Yeah removing the NORAS makes zero sense, as does keeping the bombs. Should be exactly the inverse.

But what I am totally disappointed about is obviously the painfull lack of any improvements of the Sidewinder armament: The KAWEST 85 Mirage with missiles from the seventies is just a no-go!

Comes on the list of stuff we have to report again:

  • Radar still not right
  • Ballistic computer wrongfully removed
  • EEGS on the guns
  • AS-30 wrongfully removed

I will take this post over to the normal forum when the dev-server category closes

@Schindibee do you have or can you get access to primary sources for these things, so the Tech Mods don’t complain again…

Sadly I haven’t been able to dig up volume 2 of the MIRO’s pilot manual, which tackles the TARAN and weapon system in detail.

I have collected the data a bit about the Mirage variant we get in game and its armament, and tried to present it in a graphical way:

The issue always was and apparently remains that they have taken the upgraded MIRO from the last third of its service life, but given it the weapons of somewhere around the end of the first third of its service life.

What I really don’t understand - and I’ve tried to now for weeks: When they wanted a Swiss Mirage IIIS at 10.3 with weapons from the Seventies (which is perfectly ok!), then why on earth did they model the KAWEST 85 Mirage from the Nineties?!?

would we want AiM-9P5 with the corresponding BR increase on the Mirage tho?

where it sits rn the Falcons are useful, at a Higher BR they are not
