Ohhhhh.
That makes sense as to why I haven’t seen him in so long.

Bro got promoted
Wasn’t he the guy who was making up some sources to buff the French tree and then they had to go back to revert a load of stuff?
Edit - No - that was another chap. Nevermind
This is where the Frenchies try to nerf the EFT and end up buffing it again
No that was some tech mod if I’m not mistaken, don’t remember the name…
Ah… that was funny! More of that please.
Eventually the rest of the world will come to accept the supremacy of the Tiffy as the true Ultimate Euro Canard.
Wareta I believe. It’s not naming and shaming - it’s a matter of public record.
That makes sense, I only ever saw David bowie and Gunjob really.
I first thought of WreckingAres but I realised he’s a suggestion mod.
That was actually taken into account specifically for the rafale C F3R.
Rafale M is supposed to be heavier but the devs actually rejected the report for some reason
Yes that was the thing, the Rafale C actually was measured with pilot, 100% fuel, and oil. Gaijin added ammo weight afterwards to the final mass.
I still remember when they wanted to remove the HMD from the Rafale C F3-R because that version didn’t have it, only the F4.1 did
Who is they ?
Gaijin never “wanted” to remove the HMD. At least 2 HMDs (top sight, scorpion) have been tested on the rafale since even before even the F3R, and gaijin adds HMD spending on wether they were tested on the airframe, not on actual in service equipment.
Yeah yeah, but back then everything had to be super accurate to real life, and if that specific variant, which is literally the one we have in game, didn’t have it, then technically it shouldn’t have it either. But we all know Gaijin tends to bend those rules for balance, because at the end of the day, it’s still a game.
But I’m not here to argue about this again
I remember when certain people weren’t showing consistency when it came to that.
You had people who wanted the HMD removed from the F3R, which is fine if you wanted historical realism
You had people who wanted the Rafale renamed to F4.1 to be more accurate to current capabilities, which is also fine if you wanted historical realism.
But then you had people who received their AESA Typhoon which wasn’t in service with any nation at the time of their addition, actively enjoying it, and then still calling for the removal of HMD from the Rafale C F3R while saying the AESA Typhoon was a needed addition.
By the time the Rafale was added, the rules had somewhat been tweaked already. The Mirage 2000-5F is the first example I can think about that got HMD when it did not use it in service.
The problem stemmed from the fact that the rules were (and still are) applied on a case by case basis. The German EFT IRST not being added to make the plane “unique” compared to the other 2 was the big problem for most people, but they just twisted the argument to the fact that the rafale should not have the extra MICA and HMD, which imo was the wrong way to think about it.
Now that the AESA EFT and other modern planes exist in their current configuration, I think it closes all those issues about the current equipment of the rafale tho that’s true
Damn, I only mentioned the old HMD situation and somehow unlocked the entire Rafale vs Eurofighter lore again 💀
At the end of the day, Gaijin is gonna do whatever they want anyway, but back then anything related to the Eurocanards was insanely heated, it got so bad that they even banned reports about the aircraft weight.
The Rafale was absurdly OP and basically had no real competition at the time, so naturally every little thing turned into a massive argument and we ended up with all that drama.
But anyway, it is what it is now, nothing’s gonna change
Argument I mostly remember was calling for the removal of the 2 (HMD and Micas) given the uncontested state the Rafale was in at the time (roughly from March 2025 until Sm2 addition).
Those calling for the rename from F.3 to F.4 were looking for a reason to ask for newer and more capable jets that would face the Rafale, which eventually came, even if many months later.
This is the primary reason why HMD should have been removed.
MICA EM on the Rafale was so much more powerful than anything else in-game that it was literally stupid.
removing the HMD would have limited the HOBS and the overwhelming advantage the Rafale already had with one of the only ESA radars.
A year later though, with the intro of more ESA radars, HOBS radars, etc, the balance of power shifted enough that it was no longer a critically needed change, though I still think the Rafale is overperforming by quite a bit and needs continued nerfs in other areas, like its drag.
The drag seems to be fine, the top-end thrust needs to be adjusted.
I assume you mean overperforming historically and not in-game seeing as the SM2 is the best plane in the game. The Rafale is far more underperforming in historical performance than it is in overperformance even when you take the high speed performance into account which is only useable at early game BVR where you’re still useless with the MICAs. Nerfing the top-end thrust from around Mach 1.8 to Mach 2.0 doesn’t change the majority of the gameplay where the Rafale sits at which is around Mach 1.0-1.4.
While it is correct that the high-speed end needs to be adjusted, it is a nothing-burger because it changes nothing for the Rafale currently, atleast not until the Meteor gets added where its top-speed can actually make a difference.
A good demonstration of how the Rafale is underperforming historically.
Hell, even if you fix the high altitude high speed performance on the Rafale which changes nothing in terms of gameplay currently, just 10% of these issues listed above being fixed would immediately overshadow any nerfs so I would hardly say that the Rafale is overperforming at all. The only truth is that the Rafale is underperforming (in total). If you want to say the Rafale’s top-end speed is overperforming that’s fine, just clarify that.
