What would be faulty?
MAWS on the Rafale. Even if the missile seeker was LPI it should’ve picked up the missile.
That, or maybe the conditions stopped the Rafale from being able to detect it in time
I’m not sure about irl but in game the maws is only 5km, although it can detect from further away depending on missile speed. If irl the maws is also only 5km that’s hilarious
Although eurofighter maws isn’t much better, it’s also around 10km only which is super low. Kinda surprising
MAWs ranges in game are pure guesses, and should not be considered reliable when discussing their Irl counterparts.
undergoing negociations, but possibly, at least some parts
It plays in the choice of course
Okay taking the mig-29m maws as a reference, since it’s similar to the rafale maws in terms of stats->
Missile launch detection → 50km
Missile tracking (to see if it’s actually going to hit you or not) → 5km
Assuming rafale is at least similar to this, they would’ve have been given plenty of time to react

Maybe he reacted but couldn’t evade the missile anyway ?
I sincerely doubt that the pl-15 has a nez of 50km. Pl-15e is dual pulse, which while certainly making the nez bigger than any missile that’s currently in game not including fakour, dual pulse alone won’t make it meteor level in terms of nez imo. That’s meteor level which has a throttleable ram jet, @MythicPi do you have that one slide that shows meteor no escape zone? I think it’s 60km
If the missile was launched 200km away they wouldn’t have seen it, and 5km isn’t a whole lot of time to evade especially when the IAF didn’t expect PL-15E to have that much range
The cope is as strong as ever.
Aside from whining, I never see you saying anything of value
I had no idea that it was dual pulse. I always had some questions about the claim 200+km range, since it’s not really bigger than 150km class missiles. However, if dual pulse might not increase the total kinetic range by much, it probably improves the NEZ sufficiently that’s it’s equal to the NEZ of 200+km range missiles
Or simply the AESA seeker lf the PL15 overwhelmed the PESA jammers of the rafale, which is in my opinion very likely.
Since the plane was apparently high altitude bombing, it was likely highly limited in its ability to evade the missile and with the jammers not being sufficient to defeat the missile, it was probably an easy hit for the missile itself
Here is pl15e stat card from avinc, manufacturer.

#ChinaAirShow# PL-15E air-to-air missile is a new generation of long-range air-to-air missile, designed to meet the needs of modern aerial combat. It features ultra-long-range interception, multiple guidance modes, and strong anti-jamming capabilities, as well as reliability in complex electromagnetic environments. It is suitable for use by manned fighters, UAVs, and patrol aircraft, giving them the ability to strike aerial targets at great distances.
The missile can be carried by platforms such as the J-10C, J-16, and J-20, and can be installed both externally and internally. It is equipped with dual-pulse rocket motors, a multi-mode active radar seeker, and an inertial navigation + data link + satellite navigation + terminal active radar seeker combined guidance system.
Its firing range exceeds 145 km, with the ability to engage multiple types of aerial targets such as early warning aircraft, electronic warfare aircraft, and aerial tankers.
According to official data:
• Length: 3996 mm
• Diameter: 203 mm
• Weight: ≤210 kg
Isn’t the 145km range claimed for the « limited export range » (which would be what PAF used anyway tbf)
I usually avoid these topic because I have both the EFT and Rafale.
And I prefer to save most of my value for in games, moreso for you as one of those supposedly mythical french mains that are soooo good at the game.
Rafales use AESA jammers, unless Indian ones have a different tech.
According to reports there were multiple AWACs in the air on the Pakistani side at the time of action, and they included the Saab 2000 Erieye which is a fairly modern western AWACs and those are hard to jam.
There are reports that the PL-15 can be guided in via AWACs, and so even if you jam the missile, if you can’t jam the AWACs it can still provide datalink to the missile that will counteract the jamming with the J-10 acting as a launch platform.
There’s still the questions of if the Indian Su-30s were in the role of providing air cover and failed in that respect. The further purchases of Rafales and not more Sukhois suggest that.
In fact, this report here suggests that if an older missile like the AIM-54 can and should continue to receive datalink after the missile has gone active, it would mean that modern missiles can still function on datalink from AWACs even if the missile is considered to be sufficiently jammed.
AIM-54A continue receiving datalink updates after going active // Gaijin.net // Issues
Quite likely.
Heard that it lacks spectra or smth
You really like drama, rage baiting or whatever.
I am, indeed a French main. I also never said I’m good at the game. Statshark says I’m slightly above average, which I’ll accept. In fact, I’m pretty terrible in Sim where the HMSD changes would impact gameplay the most.
I don’t even play war thunder that much anymore, aside from helping some friends to grind. I don’t really care about how OP the rafale is in itself.
I do, however, think that a lot of things should be done to balance the game. I’ve been vocal about the issues of the EFT bugs, the overall lack of balance at top tier (both air and ground in this case), and have discussed in the forums as to how the MICA EM dominance could be mitigated (changing multipath, buffing other ARH).
I also think that the main way to have things improve is to make suggestions. And those aren’t just about « NeRfInG the RaFalE aNd BufFinG EFT ». It’s also about bringing parity to different systems. The HMS, but also MFD and overall sim cockpit are probably the main aspects that could be brought to parity’s in every plane that possess them since their impact is overall relatively low on plane performances but bring very good QoL for players.
Basically, I think, I discuss issues, and give proposals, while you (and a few others), whine, rage bait, and don’t bring anything of value to the conversation
