The Su57 has a large azimuth because it has side looking radars, most ESA radars are fixed (F-22 also apparently has a later upgrade with side looking radars).
I think the su35 should have a slightly lower azimuth limit than the EF w/AESA, because the mechanical part of Irbis-E has 60° azimuth, while on the EF it has 70° azimuth.
The Irbis-E is a hybrid PESA as well, so i don’t know how it compares to a ESA in edge limit tracking (100°+ of azimuth).
it is called TWS
the capror-m isnt able to guide SARH missiles
only 70° if you want a stable track
You already can do that with the CAPTOR-M. It can guide up to 6x AMRAAMs at once in game.
It should have priority Track that would make keeping tabs on 6 targets much easier, but that hasnt been implmenrted.
There are sources for the Litening III pod being able to direct at least 2 GBUs at once, but unsure how it actually works. In theory that would also work for the Brimstone. But this is likely a game limitation more than anything else
Maybe I didn’t explain myself well, currently, TWS on the Eurofighter can only have one target selected at a time. What I mean is that, for example, TWS should be able to have five targets selected simultaneously in order to launch one AMRAAM at each of them at the same time
This is about as close as you can get I think

Well since this is the place radar is brought up most of the time. I going to ask the question. Does anyone else have issues with the radar not bore sighting when you press it in TWS mode?
That’s most radars with TWS, isn’t specific to CAPTOR-M, right now you can only have one target selected on all radars.
Of course, I was only referring to the Eurofighter, since that’s the topic here but I just wanted to clarify whether it actually has the capability to do that, or if Gaijin simply hasn’t added it yet, since it’s a rather advanced feature
Yeah i meant combined esa+mechanical, no esa can scan at 100 degree of azimuth
Yes it can priority track up to 20 targets and guide atleast 6 missles to those targets at the same time irl
oh well then iam sorry to inform you that the IRbis-E has a max gimbal limit of 120° to one side
so 240° of gimbal from side to side
Using mechanical+esa
I missunderstood, yes 240 side to side but detection at the edge is more important
Yeas, i didn’t doubt that, im just saying i don’t know how it would compare to an ESA like the EF, because the EF would have ±70 from mechanical and whatever the ESA can Steer as well.
iirc irbis has like 60° of mechanical gimbal (or howerver much this is)
but it is getting of topic if you have more questions lets move to the flanker thread
Playing Typhoon trying to play more passively as the Radar and missiles are not designed for brawling/aggressive plays.
The Radar makes it real tough though. I am so jealous of 90% of aircraft having a better Radar
it was proposed but not added yet
@Gunjob can you talk about stuff which might be solved next?
Maybe the EF could get an Working Radar?
That’s a marketing lie :P
