Im still running the stealth belts on my Harrier XD
Does the Harrier have anything else than stealth belts :P
sure Air Targets, Ground Targets, … but when the Harrier came out they made zero damage besides the APHE round which the stealth belt has 3 out of 4 sooo
and the APHE f***ing ripped planes apart
I mean its a bit weird theyre only called stealth belts since the Harrier has no round with tracers but whatever
They are stealth because people attack the Harrier and dont expect to get blown out the sky by its Cannons, they simply dont see it coming :P
I mean when people expected the Gr.7 to turn like every other Harrier and then are shocked when you turn better then them and shoot them, just amazing XD
Oh god yeah, those first few weeks in SB. My god… I racked up the kills fast. Between 9Ls actually being good and those 25mm ADENs. Not too mention the fact everyone (including myself to be honest) thought that it would be a DOA jet being subsonic at top tier
yes those were great times :,)
One thing I’m curious about is how devs will handle the internal electronic warfare suite of Eurofighter and also the Rafale.
I’m not sure what data there is on the Eurofighter’s RWR, but from what I understand, it shouldn’t be limited to a certain waveband, as it’s able to collect data on enemy radars/wavelengths, download it into its suite, and figure things out from there. It should be able to collect and classify every vehicle emitting radar out there used by militaries.
I think electronic warfare might come in as a counter to 5th gen aircraft stealth by denying them long range launches.
They could implement that Eurofighter is capable of detecting every radar and missile command links, while holding off on other features.
I mean there is secondary sources, and then there is defense-update.com…
Here is an article by popular mechanics
An air-launched ASRAAM can fly up to three times the speed of sound to engage aircraft over 15.5 miles away—but some sources claim that “over” actually means twice as far, ie. 31 miles. That would allow ASRAAM to double as a medium-range missile as well.
ASRAAM’s infrared seeker undoubtedly has a shorter effective range against typical target aircraft than the missile itself—8-11 miles by one estimate. So, for more distant shots, the missile is initially directed via a two-way datalink—perhaps based on approximate target coordinates acquired separately by radar—until the missile’s seeker acquires the target. An inertial navigation system provides course-corrections towards the target’s projected location prior to lock-on.
That seems to imply it uses data-link and inertial navigation. The difference being inertial navigation also gives you the capability for FnF. I guess the logic is, if you’re maintaining a constant lock on the target anyway, why are you not firing a BVRAAM? The data-link isn’t a selling point for an IR WVR missile.
So the Eurofighter was denied for this update right?
Denied for a while sadly
yeah, its not coming, doesnt mean we cant get other things in the meantime…
Yeah SAAF Gripen most likely
Smin is still saying no time soon, which is what makes me sceptical about the F-15C with AMRAAM’s because even though the EF is significantly better, they could always do something similar to the Phantom’s by slowly allowing it to realise its full capabilities.
I dunno I think they’ll add the F-15 anyway (but that means we can hold out hope that the EF is as good in-game as it is irl compared to other 4th gens), Italy is sorted as they have F-16 and Hungarian Gripen’s or Mig-29’s too. Germany can get Swiss F-18’s and F-4F ice, the UK can get the array of makeshift missile trucks and CF-18/Aussia F-18’s too.
Rumor has it that Israel and Japan get shafted this update which would support the no F-15C notion since the F-15J at least is very similar to it.
Unless it was the greatest misdirect of all time. I’m doubting we’ll even see typhoon in 2024 based upon their responses over the past few months.
As a nation. I think Britain is going to be fairly dead and won’t be getting much more than C&Ps over the course of the next year
