Copium. SO MANY COPIUM. In Captor (not Catcher) we trust
the problem with TWS+ is that it didnt update the targets when the radar beam passes them
it only updated the TWS targets once the scan pattern finishes
this is what caused the ghosting on all TWS+ radars

Correct, so if that’s a gameplay parameter we may be able to disable it?
Pretty sure most of the search pattern changes are worse, barring the narrow one, which will actually work as a narrow search instead of a quasi-STT lock.
The actual search patterns are getting further from IRL ones as well, which is sub-optimal…

More like both wide and medium TWS are now “bad” narrow scan pattern.
Dropping wide from 70 deg width to 30 deg means the scan pattern is now 60x4.2° for 252°², while medium goes from 60x8.4° down to 30x8.4°², also 252°². That is roughly the search volume of the F-16C’s narrow scan, which is 20x12.8° for 256°².
Thr narrow scan goes from 20x4.1° (86°²) to 15x12.6° (189°²). Objectively makes it a better narrow scan than it was before, but it loses that super fast update rate some people liked of it (was being used as a quasi-STT).
The new medium/wide search patterns are just terrible. Im not sure why gaijin decided to nerf that part of the CAPTOR-M even more…

How I feel seeing that they’ve changed the Captor-M radar, now I just need to test it in game to see if it actually ends up being better.

All I need from them is the ability to guide with the IRST and then my mission is complete until we get stealth jets.
On the note of roll-stabilisation, IIRC I read somewhere it was software stabilised.

Yeah just checked, full TWS is the old wide TWS (140x4.2°)
So we’re getting 4x scan patterns instead of 3?
Me personally, im happy with a 30 degree scan to work with. its a small step up from our 20 degree narrow scan, but below the (very buggy) 60.

Reading the changes was a little concerned we were loosing the wide mode (niche but useful) but more options = more flexibility in radar operation
tbh, just gimme an working HMD/TWS mode
I’m trying to figure out if that means a pulse search mode or if it’s interleaved into TWS for example
