Seems like it but damn the SPICE are beautiful with the upgraded rewards for ground targets :D
At least they’re not getting shut down instantly anymore ^^
Ive not done the NE yet this cycle
You should try it, you can finally do something again if you’re not braindead against S300.
Btw. is there a way to decouple PIRATE from radar? It’s incredibly annyoing to do ground attacks if you want to guide radar missiles at the same time as your view always locks onto the current TWS target. It also always activates CCRP automagically which is even more annyoing as you can’t even deactivate it as long as you selected A2G munitions in the weapons selector.
Im currently just spamming ALARM in the GR4, but its a bit dull.
Nope. Dont think so at least.
But manually locking a target with the FLIR or Tpod is meant to override it, but it seems buggy as hell
Worst part is: I can’t even work around it by locking in third person view as that’s currently broken too.
I already messaged Smin and Gunjob about this but only received an answer from Smin 22 days ago that he will ask the team to take a look at it. Since then, nothing sadly :(
Honestly.
Not enjoying it.
10 million RWR pings means its impossible to see what is going on.
PW4s and Spice-250s just give hits, if they do any damage at all. You also still need 2-3 Spice-250s per SPAA otherwise they get intercepted still
To fire a Spice-250 you have to go subsonic, where you then cant notch anything
AGM-88C always get intercepted.
Its just too much on such a tiny map
and we need decent weapons
I went to ignore the RWR and only look at my MAW as the RWR too gives wrong distance readings for ARH missiles and other emitters.
I usually get four kills from eight dropped SPICEs but yes the loft + top-down at the end is still completely wrong and lets them half the time fly into the tracks or the ERA swallows the blast. The difficulty to go subsonic I solve by just deploying the airbrake during drops. The engines are powerful enough to pick up speed fast again after that.
AGM-88 don’t have the “reduced RCS” feature of the SPICEs so they always get targeted. I only use them as distraction (as ARMs get prioritized above them) to drop the SPICEs.
RWR going insane and MAW screaming for stuff that isn’t even coming for you.
It’s honestly funny that the Su-30SM2’s radar works better as a MAWS than the DASS MAWS. Fly the Su-30SM2, and you can practically see exactly where every incoming missile is going. Meanwhile, the DASS…
DASS
- Only displays the range to incoming missiles.
- Sometimes fails to detect incoming missiles.
- Does not indicate whether a notch was successful.
N035
- Displays the range and speed of incoming missiles.
- Visualizes incoming missiles in the third-person view.
- Continues to display missiles even after they lose track due to a successful notch.
- Features TRK MEM, so it does not lose track of targets during rolls.
You can do with that ECRS Mk2 as well, I often use it as a MAWS.
Hopefully once the munition RCS change comes through, this stupidity wont be possible anymore…
missiles should have a certain level of RCS, so isn’t it still possible? Bug reports were submitted stating that the Rafale and Eurofighter have an RCS equivalent to the AIM-7.
modern and powerful radar like Captor-E family should be plenty capable of tracking missiles at in-game engagement distances, no?
So so. A 0,01 m² (10x10 cm) to 0,04 m² (20x20 cm) target (frontal surface of a missile if it would be flat) is not easily detected at distances >20 km, but the high doppler shift because of the missile speed makes the track and identification rather reliable the moment it is detected.
[Gemini] calculated 63,5km for a 0,01m² target based on a radar than can track a 1m² target at 200km of distance, i dont know how right this is and the figures for Captor-E family (they’re probably all confidential even) 🤔
To some degree, probably, but the ability of a missile to be guided onto a target that small would be significantly degraded.
I should probs specify my issue isnt so much with radars being able to pick up munitions as it is with the fact that a reliable and meta tactic is just to shoot each others missiles down until someone runs out of missiles and cant anymore.
Its clearly not a tactic commonly employed irl, and should not be in-game. The Iron-dome meta is utter cancer.
If we go by that: It is said, that the CAPTOR-E can detect an F-35 with an estimated RCS of 0,00126 m² at 59 km. Which would make it able to detect a 0,01 - 0,04 m² target at 99-140 km lol
At least one of the values (either the RCS of the F-35 or the detection range) doesn’t add up in my opinion.
For me aleviated my Rafale cancer as these Rafale players are used to their missiles always hitting their target at <10 km ranges and maximum off borsight. I just shoot their MICAs and then them as they’re not suspecting their missile to get shot down or that the enemy is still flying towards them :D
I don’t think MCM would have become this much of a problem if the radar display hadn’t been oversimplified. Turning radar contacts into icons just because aircraft have NCTR is the biggest mistake Gaijin has made in recent times.
Where?
Not disagreeing or anything, but sources would be nice :/
In your source did they state in what aspect it was detected? RCS isn’t a static figure.
(Btw, no pressure here, don’t want this to become F-35-RCS thread)
Not that it would matter anyways.
The suspiciously long velocity vector would signal to anyone that that is indeed an incoming missile 😂
I just took the stuff from the wiki in this case as there are nearly no reference points and I didn’t take this really serious ^^
I know but try to find something about it… The RCS at most gets abstractly compared to objects (in this case golf ball, so 4 cm diameter → 0,00126 m²).
